Aetan Finn

History

Upon the birth of a famous scion of the Cimon line, a gift was left by the fey. This gift was far from auspicous; it was a huge, ugly baby, like some blue-skinned half-bouan.

Rather than deal with such a brute in the royal household, the family consigned the child to the care of a remote (or the city's?) toll-keeper, and when the old man died Aetan took up his role.

Narrative Evolution

My plan is that Aetan evolves from shut-in (or bridge-in?) into a full role in the world, either as a noble leader or as a hellish berserker.

I just had a crazy idea concerning advancing Aetan into a "bridge mage", like one with teleport abilities and extra-dimensional movement, and so forth, the idea being that there are bridges between most things; you just need to find and/or build them.

Group Role

There's a few possibilities depending on his progression. At the outset, I see him as the shock troop, as opposed to the traditional tank. He'll be swinging huge two-handed weapons, probably never use a shield, and have little regard for his own safety.

As he progresses, I'll probably give him things like AoE on his strength, levels with sweep, and bonuses to presence attacks, the idea being that he's more crowd control and intimidation than maximum single-target damage. That is, assuming I can get those things to pass muster balance-wise.

GM Questions

So I upped my dex, and that bumped my speed to 4. I'm assuming I need to keep his speed at 3. Do I get the points back?

--Matts 20:56, 30 December 2008 (MST)I have a question: My armor power that I've just taken has a -3/4ths limitation for a 13- activation roll. Can I change this to be sectional defense for the stomach and vitals? Are there rules for sectional defense?

I want to do this mainly to prevent future humiliation from getting poked by short swords. I figure leaving the head open is fine, since if someone manages to hit it then they sort of deserve to do the damage.

BEN: no. armor gives minuses to DCV and to Dex rolls, as per the armor rules. how much of a penalty is based on how much PD/ED it has. 3-4= -1, 5-6 = -2, 7-8 = -3, etc.
