Edmiao anyone up for some magic at least on friday? I've got three new decks ready and one in the works. Ben, you gonna be around tonight or tomorrow night? I want to pick up the rest of the cards to finish out a deck I'm working on, if that's ok.
BEN: nope, won't be around. Tonight I'll be at Meghan's, tomorrow I'm going to draft M10 for the second time before it goes out of the draft rotation, possibly with Chris. You can bring your decks saturday if you want and test them out there if you want.
Ed. You'd rather draft than stomple my new decks. You suck. Whats raj's number, maybe i can stop by when he's home and steal cards. I think it may be a good weekend for deck building.

BEN: that's where I'm going to draft. Ordinarily I'd just play at my place, but I've only drafted M10 once even though I went to 3 M10 drafts (two of them they had to switch to other formats because they ran out of M10), so this is potentially my last chance. You're welcome to join me if you want, or bring your decks there at 7pm (first pick games) and we can play them against each other between my (our?) matches.
Edmiao meh. i'll pass on the drafting, build up some political capital at home for saturday. still want to try to stop by if Raj is home and pick up some other colors. i'll give you a call, ben, to try and get his number later today.

JASON: I have 4 or 5 books, but I cant sell them for $6 apiece. I could probably do $10, which would be about what they are after shipping. I can make a deal for it all. Or, what I might like better, is a trade. Do you have any stuff to trade?
--Brandon 21:00, 22 September 2009 (MST) Hi all. I doubt that I can come by Friday for anything more than an hour or so of Magic. But, I really want to go to the Zendikar (the new Magic Set) Prerelease on Saturday in celebration of my birthday (which is a week later, but my parents will be in town this weekend). It be cool if you guys could come out. Prereleases are really fun, and you get to play at least three rounds of Sealed and, at worst, you pay $30 for the six booster cards you will be playing with. Anyone interested?
BEN: Chris will be in town and we were planning on going: we can figure out a time/place to meet up beforehand if you want.
MATT: I think I get back that Saturday, what time does it start and will there be caffeine. I'd like to go, it could help me beat the jet-lag.
Edmiao sounds fun but i'll be out of town.
BEN: it starts at 9AM, but htere are events all day.
JASON: I just got a big batch of magic from a friend, so if Chris or any of the rest of you want to buy some stuff before or after, we should find a way to meet.

@ Brandon: That actually sounds like fun, I dunno what my plans are this weekend as I might go to the really lame and not fun Fair. Or, I might have some other plans that night. But I'll let you guys know by tomorrow or Friday.
--Brandon 12:13, 23 September 2009 (MST) Sweet. Sounds like a lot of people are potentially down. I know that Joe and I are going, so if we coordinate, we could almost fill out a whole pod by ourselves (for better or worse). Matt, I know, at least, there there is caffeine nearby, and we'll plan to go at a reasonable time, because it doesn't really matter when you show up. They run sealed events all day, and start up (single elimination) drafts after 2:30. Ben, when were you and Chris planning on going? I was thinking sometime between noon and 2 o'clock, but I'm flexible.
@ Gabe: Since the prerelease is during the day, plans at night won't conflict. You should come! It will be fun to hear you complain about the overpoweredness of the new set, even though everyone will only be playing with cards from the new set!

I hope to at one point in the day to point out that one of the new cards, doens't matter which one, but that by playing it makes that person a bad human being.

BEN: I plan to be there for the first sealed pool of the day, ie the 9AM one. I'll probably get eliminated by 11 or so, and might just jump right into another sealed pool. After sealed, I'll switch to the 2HG sealed with Chris if he's interested, and if not (or if he wants to draft), we'll probably do 2-3 drafts. That'll carry us through the end of the event, ca. 6-6:30.

How about we try to catch the second round of sealed, once Ben and Chris are done with the early morning nerd run? How about we try to gather at 11:30 or Noon? Does that seem reasonable to folks? We can probably mostly fill a pod with just us (it takes 8, I believe, and they start them up pretty much as soon as they can fill 4 pods, I think). Information, directions, etc. can be found here. It's at the convention center.
Edmiao why 11:30? it starts at 9, right? is each round another $30?
--Gdaze 11:02, 25 September 2009 (MST) Yeah, is it per round? Also you can just draft Brandon's mom for a half eatten sandwich.
BEN: the price is per tournament: that means you can play 4 rounds which are best of 3: winning more rounds wins you more packs. drafts are...15 bucks I think: single elimination, best of 3, 3 rounds? 2HG is 40 bucks, you get 8 packs and a foil mythic for sealed and 2HG sealed events: these are 1 game per round, four rounds, I think. They start new tournaments every 30min or so in the morning, as they fill up for sealed. draft starts at 1pm. There are 2 flights of 2hG, one at 9:30 or so, the other ca. 2:30.
Edmiao i have to work tomorrow, only time i can get the boss alone. i will call one of you via cell phone if i can make it later, probably 1pm or later, but i doubt it.
--Brandon 19:00, 25 September 2009 (MST) Basically, think of it as having to buy whatever product it is that you will be using for each event. So, yes, I'm aiming to show up at about 11:30, and will do at least one round of Sealed. Feel free to give me a call tomorrow morning for more details.
Mass Effect
Current Mass Effect XP: 1000 Starting + 1900 xp = 2900. (Current at end of 8/28/09)
BEN: I'm posting here for ease of viewing...it can get moved to the recap section at your leisure. IN short, what we accomplished:
1.) Discovered that the horned, hooved folks are called narthaks. They are megalomaniacal, genocidal peoples, by the looks of it. Then again, they genocided people who were going to genocide them after they figured out how to dodge the pesky genocide courtesy of the Reapers. But they sounded a little too happy about the whole thing, so I'm not a big fan of them, personally. We also discovered that they are in suspended animation in some sort of "the matrix" where they are training to take over the galaxy, soonish. But if we get that genocide weapon, which is probably on Armeni, we can head them off at the pass.
2.) Sold 90% of those seeds. Stop screaming, we got 2.5 million credits for them. And access to the corporate black market to get rare items, and all the money in a tax-free, untraceable account. Each player gets 100,000 credits to spend. Check out this shiny 8/8 shield!
3.) 300 XP all around. Huzzah!
4.) Discovered another narthak planet, and killed 8 zombie lizards and a maintenance robot. Also blew up a giant exhaust port.
5.) Fizzak created a cipher that even corporate black ops can't crack. Five degrees of success FTW.
Next step in Of Amor, Armor, and Alchemy
Current OAAAA XP: 75 base + 352 XP; Followers: 15 XP (current as of 8/7/09)
ED: How long did you say the interim was between act 2 and 3 again, ben? 10 years would be great, time to fit a lot of goings on.
BEN: 10 years is correct. Some things for the next session of OAAAA:
1.) Everybody will get to spend their bonus "interim" XP as they please, I've changed my mind about forcing expenditures in a certain way.
2.) I want everyone to think about their interim adventures. At the start of the nextsession, I amthinking we may do Gemini style card "prologues" in which we explore people's adventures: the person we are doing it for presents the overall theme/happenings, and then we run through it, with the group contributing details. Group bonus XP will be assigned based on cool story effects people come up with in these. If this idea seems too complex or seems like it will give other players too much involvement in your interim events,we can can it and just let each person do a narrative, in character or out.
3.) I will clarify happenings in the world at the first session of book 3.
ED: Sounds fun. I wrote up a bunch of ideas, i think there's plenty of room for adventures in between the paragraphs. Brandon, what is your email so i can send you the Tithe sheet. I may not have done a great job on him, he was pretty low on the damage potential, but still could take hits quite well. you may want to remod him, i'm sure ben would be fine with that. although i really think you should keep the pegasus, since it played a major role in the fight with the dragon. Let you fly and catch Aeten, bring him back to the battle and Aeten immediately thereafter struck the killing blow.

--Dieter the Bold 15:41, 13 August 2009 (MST) I think such a prologue adventure thing would be awesome. I heartily approve. Also, I personally would like a little GM wild-card in how points get spent, but that's just me. Ben, do you have the time/interest to do that with Galen?
BEN: sure...or rather, if you want you can use your prologue adventure thing to drive your xp expenditure. Or I'm happy to take as heavy of a hand as you want. Also, if we do this, the player who was "on the spot" would have full veto power over any card played: this may sound like a cop-out, but the point is to generate a backstory for those 10 years that appeals to the given player, and that trumps. I don't anticipate this being a problem, but it's easier to enforce than a "don't be a dick" policy. Also, any given player can just opt-out and write/come up with his own background for that time.
