Edmiao Gabe (and anyone else) lets get together and exchange duplicate commons / uncommons sometime. i had a stack 15 inches tall i forgot to give you on friday and now it will be even bigger. Ben, that box had a lot of nice uncommons, and many commons that i lacked and wanted, including two Sakura Tribe Elders, perhaps the best common ever, and quite a few icy manipulators. so far i have only gone thru green and artifacts. but lots of extra commons which i want to trade for commons or give away.

Edmiao Ben, you left a binder of foils, a box of commons from legends and the dark and 3-5th edition, and your hot mit.

Edmiao That archenemy was a lot of fun, we should do it again soon! (but not this weekend)

JASON: Best common ever? Uh, ever heard of lightning bolt? How about dark ritual? Priest of Titania? Armadillo Cloak? Rancor? Power sink?

And yeah, I'm going with Jason on this one, Lightning Bolt is way better then that, and Rancor is pretty nasty too. And how about Counter Spell?

JASON: Couterspell is bad ass, but it was an uncommon in Revised, though they did release it as a common in Ice Age. In my mind its always UC, even though thats not technically true.

--Brandon 11:31, 2 August 2010 (MST) Whoah. Jason. Gabe. Have you ever met Ed? Lightning Bolt is an incredibly efficient spell which can be used to kill either creatures or players. Ed has no interest in killing anything (especially players) efficiently. He is interested in creating impossibly complicated board states where no one can punch through and he wins because the other player gets disgusted/bored, can't draw anymore cards, or is taking one point of damage per turn. If you asked Ed to choose between a lightning bolt that did 20 damage and an Indestructible Tim with Shroud that searched up a wall every time it tapped for damage, he would choose the latter without hesitation. With this evaluative framework, Sakura Tribe Elder is unquestionably better than lightning bolt.

JASON: That indestructible Tim is sounding damn good to me too...and I HATE walls. He can block a creature AND do 1 to the opponent. Not to mention all the gobbledygook. Too bad about that trusty wrath of god.

BEN: wrath of god won't destroy an indestructible tim. What set is that guy in?

JASON: Thats in Brandons fantasy set. Wrath of God doesnt destroy, it buries. Even though they got rid of the terminology they have to have a way to simulate it. Otherwise an indestructible creature with shroud can never be removed from the battlefield except via sacrifice (because that is not targeted). All remove from game effects are targeted.

BEN: wrath of god actually does say "destroy" now: it just also says "cannot be regenerated". indestructible creatures are immune to wrath of god, as far as I know.

Edmiao Jason, i heard of some of those cards.... wish i had some Rancors, that's a nasty card. don't have armadillo cloaks or the priest of titania either. man. Brandon, you know me too well. but hey, i have lightning bolts in my Eye of the Storm Deck!! does that count as efficient? lolz. so do you have some of those Indestructible Tim's to trade? cus i would totally trade for that. Oh, man i can't believe you got me so pegged. one of my new decks: walls and tims. and some red burn and spirit links. that's it. actually works sometimes. just walls and tims. oh man. Gabe, no go on friday, really busy this week. Next friday? i got to finish going through the cards too, only through green and artifacts still. Anyone else want in on the trade extravaganza?

Edmiao ben, i have you folder of foils. as i come across my foils that i don't need i am adding them to your binder.... you want them, i presume? if not i wont bother.

--Gdaze 11:00, 9 August 2010 (MST) I don't really know anything about Star Trek. I didn't really dig it growing up. Mind you it isn't a bad Sci-Fi at all, and I really should try to watch more. So do phasers just instana kill? I think it would be a lot of fun though, because it is a well established universe but still with tons of places to explore.

Edmiao we got those archenemy decks, and the green one had Rancor, Armadillo cloak, and two Sakura Tribe elders. pretty awesome commons, plus all the rares. i think those decks were not a bad deal actually.

--Gdaze 14:03, 10 August 2010 (MST) I really like Archenemy. At first I was pretty weary, as their last gimmick was pretty bad. But that was a lot of fun that night. Looks like this weekend I will be busy everyday (Dragon Flight this weekend!). I am also able to game during the week sometimes as well as long as I get some advanced warning. We gotta get in more games before Ben leaves! Psshhaaa, all you keep leaving Washington!

Oh and Ed, or anyone else, if you want to stop by sometimes for Rogue Trader that would totally work.

Edmiao Gabe (and anyone else) we got to get together and trade our duplicate commons. it will take me about a week more to go through all those cards. so far just through green and blue. maybe next week or next weekend?

Ed. Ben was talking about doing some EDH games. Question, i want to use enigma sphinx as my general. It is not a legend but pretty much could be in my opinion. That ok with yall?

BEN: I'll check with Meghan what our plans are, but I'd like to play. I want to make a deck with either Uril the miststalker or the Golgari Queen as my general. Haven't gotten any of the cards together yet though, so we'll see what I come up with.

Edmiao so what u think about a non-=legend creature as a general? Enigma sphinx. One thing i see about an EDH deck list online is that it seems to be a format of "who's got tons of awesome rares?" toss em together. well, not so simple, but the deck online is like 60% rares 35% uncommmons. that said, we all have huge sets with lots of rares. let me know soon if we are gonna do EDH this weekend, cus i need to make a deck for cheryl and one for myself.

Edmiao i may just go guy a sen triplets for the WUB EDH artifact deck. other deck will probably be horde of notions.

I am free Friday but only after like 8. Saturday is good, better even, as I'll be able to sleep in that day.

Edmiao saturday prob better for us as well. don't have to play til the wee hours. I will prob just go buy a sen triplets for my legend, only $3, and a good excuse to pick one up. Ben? Jason? Dieter? i nterested? who am i forgetting?

Edmiao correct for the general. but no duplicates. all cards in deck are unique.

--Gdaze 15:46, 16 August 2010 (MST) Oh wow, so no TWO cards can be of the same name, now I see. Wow, guess that means using Mishra wouldn't have much of a point. This is crazy, have you all ever played this before? It seems so nuts to have that many cards.

BEN: no, but apparently it's the ultimate multiplayer format, with huge, endless games. People run a lot of board sweepers, and I think you can attack anyone. I can't do saturday, unfortunately, at least not till post 9pm. Friday night would be doable. I may order some cards I know aren't in Ed's collection from cardhaus myself.

BEN: I'm going to order a few cards from cardhaus that I know aren't in the collection, I think, then build decks at ed's place: ed, you want me to pick up any cards for you? Shouldn't take long, I know what I want in there. Apparently board sweepers are important, fyi. Let's try to make this happen on friday.

Edmiao friday it is. we want to order food again? and ya ben could u pick up Sen triplets for me? worst condition available, i don't care about mint. just fyi, i have, at last count, zero wrath of gods and other similar powered cards. i made three EDH decks, one Esper, one red green trample and one horde of notions. i have very few board sweeping cards in my collection, so likely y'all will wipe the board with me, plus i think my idea of themed decks in EDH may be a bad idea, probably what i should do is pick two colors and then grab all the awesome rares from those two colors, but that's against my nature. maybe i will try to do a fourth deck where i do that.

is this played free for all or two headed giant style ? we can also try it archenemy style. we should also play some regular format games too,

BEN: yeah...I have some wraths but not a lot of other sweepers. That being said, I may put the uril deck on hold, since the whole point is to use one sided shroud creatures: then again, you can always hulk smash those creatures with your own creatures...anyways, I'll see if I can get those decks together and bring my decks, along with the awesome direct damage deck joe lent me. Maybe I'll see if he wants in. I will do my best to pick up cards and pizza...maybe I'll get costco pizza, since that's up north, I'm sure ed would like that.

--Gdaze 10:03, 18 August 2010 (MST) Sweet, I'll bring some money for the pizza (I like Costco as well, cheese please) and for the cards from last time. I actually didn't put too many rares in because it sounds like stuff is going to be wiped out all the time. So I figured lots and lots of little things plus card return might be important, but who knows, we'll see.

Edmiao groovey on the 'za. either pudge or costco is fine, costco is more a drive for ya, but its great. ben, i am thinking to pick up a few cards as well for a white deck so i can get my sen triplets then as well. let me know if you already got em. i am making a mono white deck to counter your black deck. it won't be just kill black, that would be too easy (ie four karmas, four cop black, 2 light of day etc....). rather it will aim to counter the threats the black deck brings, massive creature removal, discard, and fast opening, and thus should be solid against any deck. that said it will also counter black knight with white knight, etc. so Ben, may i ask how many pieces of protection from black you have? I plan to match it for parity. Do i recall 2 black knights, 2 orders and 1 artifact equipment?

BEN: 2 knights, 2 orders, 1 sword of light and shadow. I think that's it. It's also got very little dedicated creature removal at this point, actually, though I could be wrong about that. I haven't gotten the triplets yet...I'm just putting together an internet order for cardhaus and was going to pick them up. Maybe you should give me your list, I can order them all, and you can go pick everything up? We should chat via phone to coordinate: if you picked them up tomorrow or friday it would make for much less driving for me, though it would mean I would get pizza at pudge. I'll also have to put my edh deck together at your place.

Edmiao I will try to get them tomorrow i think. its on my way home, if i don't finalize my list then friday i will get them. give ya a call tomorrow. Actually there is a "note" section at the end of the order process, you can just place your order and write a note: "will be picked up by my good buddy Ed 'the maestro of brilliance' Miao" then we can avoid compicated cross ordering and repayment schemes.

EdmiaoGabe, do you have extra commons / uncommons you want to trade? I essentially filled up that box i bought from ben with my excess commons and have about an inch and a half thick of uncommons for each color. I'd prefer to trade em to ya, but could also try to unload em on craigs list for some piddly amount of money.

Edmiao ben, there was one rare in that big box Canopy Dragon. underpowered cus its old, but a cool card. went into my trample EDH deck. Oh, cheryl and i played two of the EDH decks last night. it was fun as she beat my horde of notions into the ground with her 6/6 trample double strike. amazing how fast life disappears vs a creature like that. and i killed him like 3 times each game with Shriekmaw over and over again to no avail.

BEN: ok, I will order my cards and put in that note tonight. Also, important note you may have missed: if you take 21 points or more of damage from any ONE general (ie, that general has to do all 21 damage, not all damage from generals combined, you are dead, even if you have life left. Don't know if you knew that.

--Brandon 22:12, 18 August 2010 (MST) So, I'm out of the country for not even a week, and you guys decide to play EDH? Damnit. I tried to get us to play EDH like a year or go or something. I'm totally ragequitting America. In EDH-Related news, I have Horde of Notions deck if you want to compare, ED. AND, if you invite Joe, fuck him up. He has been tuning his EDH decks for a long time and they are pretty effing ridiculous. Don't say I didn't warn you.
