Joran Maniersi

Joran was born on Betazed to upper-middle class parents. Due to complications in the birthing process his parents couldn't have more children, so they lavished their attention on Joran. When testing showed a high potential for psionics, they sent him to a special academy for focused training. During a class shuttle tour of one of Betazed's islands, a freak breakdown in the planet's weather-control stations led to a storm that nearly crashed the shuttle. Thanks to fancy flying by the pilot everyone arrived safely except for some bruising. The pilot received quite the hero's reception from the anxious parents, and Joran decided he wanted to be greeted by people that way as well, setting him on a course to Starfleet Academy and the Flight Control specialty. With a high Intellect and Vitality and peak Agility & Presence scores, Joran stood out in his class.
Joran is a full Betazoid male with the characteristic black eyes and hair who recently transferred to the USS Niven in The Triangle sector. A Lieutenant (junior grade), he graduated with honors from Starfleet Academy only several years ago, with his previous assignments having been various starbases and planetside liasons. Now on his first fleet assignment with the Niven, Joran has studiously kept up his qualifications for Flight Control and is serving as one of the Helmsman under Lt. Sandra Kingman.
