UT-43 Game - Please give me your thoughts.

I'm post this since the fantasy game might end soonish(like in a few months or what not) no idea how long supers is gonna keep going but just in case..., I like sci-fi games, and enjoyed being a GM.

This would be a space opera like game. The universe is fairly well established but allows the GM or players to add a bit to it. It would most likely take place around UT-60 or UT-70.

The basic story is as follows, and I mean BASIC:

Humanity long ago reached for the stars and have colonized several planets. Much of this was due to ancient pyramids that were covered in strange writing, once the writing was deciphered it turned out that it contained various scientific knowledge.

At first humanity was fairly unified but on one colony planet general dissent turned into full scale rebellion. This rebellion spread out and in the end led to the formation of the Red Blok, basically space Russians.

The U.N.A. were the sole group in charge but now of course have The Red Blok to contend with. U.N.A is made up of many countries and is heavily influenced by powerful corporations.

Both of these forces had to combine when their home planet of Ava came under attack by strange mechanical beings. As it turned out a recently discovered pyramid was actually a device made by these aliens to destroy the planet one it had reached a certain state.

During this conflict the mechanical race, which calls itself the Therians, used a race they had constructed called the Karmans. The Karmans are a race of intelligent gorillas.

In the end the Therians were repelled and the humans went back to fighting each other. Ava was left in total ruins from the machines the Therians turned on and is still in the process of rebuilding. Ava is also divided between Red Blok and U.N.A. forces.

However in UT-43 (43 years after trauma) a world sized spaceship of the Therians appeared in the humans’ systems. What happened during this fight it still up in the air as the game takes place after this event, or it could happen during as well.

This game would use the Warhammer 40k RPG system because overall most of the classes already fit with little work needed. Also this keeps the rules simple.

The game would be fairly easy to get into because the printed material on the universe isn't quite that large.

I would LIKE it if nobody looked up info on it just yet though.

The following races would be playable:

Humans – Much like in WH40K humans would take a type of planet which would influence what class their character could take as well as some starting stats and bonuses. They are the only race that can have psychics. The Red Blok has also just begun to fiddle around with artificially created humans.

U.N.A. World Classes: Adept, arbiter, assassin, guardsman, psychic, scum, merchant (new class)

Red Blok: As above except they also have the cleric class.

These will be fleshed out a little more, like industrial planet, farming planet, etc etc.

Karmans – They are not a slave race of the Therians anymore and have a strange outlook on life that means they join battles as allies and sometimes as enemies with humans. Of course not ALL of them think like this and some openly trade with humans and have even begun to live amongst certain colonies. They have less fate points then other races due to their outlook on life, but they are a good amount stronger and bigger. Their warriors usually will respect strong and skilled opponents. They are kinda like space samurai Buddhists.

Classes: Adept, arbiter, guardsman, scum, cleric

Cogs – An odd race that when originally asked to help fight off the Therians refused. They have been trading with U.N.A. for some 90+ years. They use advanced robotics and are masters of biology as well. They look something like “Greys” but are a bit larger, being around 7-10 feet tall. Cogs are very smart and skilled traders but their bodies are quite frail. They are the only race who can take the tech-priest class. Cogs are also masters of cloning technology and cybernetics.

Classes: Adept, assassin, merchant, guardsman, tech-priest

There will be at least one other race(one the Karmans thought they wiped out) with perhaps two more total.

How the game runs:

All the players would first agree on a general theme so that during character creation everyone makes a character that can fit in and while has personal goals, has some interest in the over-all goals of the game.

Some examples/ideas:

Smugglers (ugh…)

Explorers / Researchers (researching lost Therian tech, or capturing it)

Therian technology acquisition unit (as opposed to above is far more direct, but could even tie into the above)

War Torn Planet (survive, escape, whatever)

Settlers (fighting off the natural order of a new planet)

Covert Ops for Business (most likely wouldn’t have alien players)

Free Traders – Kinda like smugglers I guess.
