Inevitably I will get sick of GMing, or get burned out, or otherwise need to take a break. In that event we will alternate with a game Matt#2 will run. Though it is still evolving, the important aspects of the universe have been determined. This page is for outlining and discussing that.

Setting

The setting is the Milky Way galaxy in some near future time. Space travel is possible, though still quite slow. Warp engines do not exist, though there are a finite number of warp gates that connect planets of the solar system. No more of these can be built, and the reasons may or may not be discussed on this page. Earth itself has undergone a series of catastrophes which make living there less than ideal. Other worlds and moons have been or are being terraformed, and space stations also exist. Because of the rapid expansion and wide range of possibilities, the setting will have a frontier feel. This will also lead to a chaotic feel regarding law and law enforcement.

Inspiration

This game was inspired primarily by two similar collections of stories. One is Firefly/Serenity, the other Cowboy Bebop.

System

There has been a small amount of discussion concerning this, and a fair amount of wavering during said discussion. So far, the following options have been considered:

Deadlands Either Weird West or Wasted West varieties, or some combination thereof.

Savage Worlds The child of Deadlands that plays out like Deadlands lite. Its a more current, and popular system. Its also very simplistic.

Hero If we went this direction we would probably do our best to keep it simple.

Characters

So far, two characters have been discussed, in various levels of detail.

Louis Specter A hard drinkin', gamblin' addicted, engineer and priest.

Kitty Malone A pilot.

Status
