Lieutenant Silon is the chief science officer on the USS Niven in Star Trek: The Triangle Missions. He is a physical and planetary science specialist. At 28 he is the youngest Lieutenant on board.

Silon was born on the frontier world of Nimbus III which exists in the neutral zone between Klingon and Federation space. The planet is not a member of any empire, and Klingons, Humans, Romulans, Vulcans and Andorians all live there. His mother was a diplomat, while his father served as a science officer in Starfleet. His family is extremely large, with 4 brothers and 6 sisters. Of those, 2 brothers and 3 sisters are adopted, including a Klingon and a Romulan. Because of hi multicultural background he speaks many languages.

When he was 8 years old his mother suddenly left the family with no explanation. Since then he has had little contact with her. His father remarried to a human woman who was first chair lute in the local symphony. He considers this woman to be his mother.

He entered the academy at age 16, and did well in studies. He was a self-assured cadet, and was known as a bit of a cavalier because of his popularity with female cadets. He graduated with honors near the top of his class.

During his first tour his confidence continued to soar. He performed very well, and was well-liked by everyone except his colleagues in the science department, who found him to be too aggressively career minded. No one could deny his devotion to duty, however. Near the end of his tour he was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade, and while on the back to Starbase 21 his ship received an urgent distress message they responded to.

The planet was hit with an aggressive virus and the crew was stretched to the limit of their resources and skills. Much of the crew had beamed down to the planet and were inoculating the populace and attempting to isolate the cause, and Silon was left in charge of the bridge. During this time of low staff, a Cardassian shuttle disguised as a local merchant ship beamed a squad of Jem Hadar over to capture the ship. Silon knew he only had a few security personnel, and he was in a serious situation. Thinking quickly, he surrounded the boarding party in force fields and evacuated the life support, killing them.

It was a desperate situation, and his quick thinking averted disaster. He was awarded the Starfleet Medal of Commendation and promoted to Lieutenant. He is proud of his accomplishment, but he has been much more tempered since the incident. It has changed his entire attitude.
