BEN: as a comment on task resolution, I find myself reaching for the dice, and abiding by their results, more and more when I am interested in getting an "unexpected" conclusion, and comfortable with the consequences of this.  Much of the rest of the time I allow things to largely go the players' way, with creativity, good RPing, and character appropriate actions determining how much benefit is gained from this.
