Cell team consisting of Charles, Anya, Brock, Jeffrey, and Vanessa arrive on the outskirts of the safehouse and drive in via truck. They find the bridge on the approaching road is damaged via fire and decide to walk the remaining 1/2 mile rather than take the truck over the compromised bridge. The team approaches the safehouse, an old hunting lodge and out buildings, and they secure the perimeter but find the place eerily quiet. Soon afterwards, they discover the Canadian team has split into two factions and both sides consider the other ones to be traitors who compromised the mission. Their memories of the operation in Vernon are sketchy and they seem to only remember insignificant details.

In Vernon, British Columbia, Canada another XCOM Cell was investigating multiple reports of strange behavior made by an eldery widower farmer named Marvin Wolf. Wolf was complaining that his neighbors were acting oddly and that a great many trucks were coming and going at nearby farms. Although he called the police to report this multiple times no actions were taken. XCOM agent Dermond Bass found evidence of coverup and deletion of these calls at the local police station and began investigating on his own. Eventually, he saw fit to redirect a satellite where bizarre energy emissions were spotted emanating from the vicinity of several Vernon farms. The local XCOM Cell went into action and dispatched a team.

Canadian XCOM Team
Rona Kim - South Korean psychologist and criminal profiler formerly working for the FBI.
Oleg Dmidov - Former Russian mafia cleaner called in to fix mistakes.
Abraham Wilson - Irish master (even a cunning) linguist and mathematics savant who worked as a translator for NATO.
Evie Langstrom-Cotter - American infiltrator and spy with the CIA.
Dermond Bass - American communications and surveillance expert, worked with NASA.
Colin Peacock - American US Marshal worked with the DOJ.

Details of Operation Spectral Hydra are sketchy and the team almost withdrew for unknown reasons before going back into the town. Soon after, the nearby township of Coldstream suffered a catastrophic explosion at a local chemical plant forcing a widespread evacuation and government disaster declaration. The team was forced to abandon the mission and withdraw to a safehouse at Morton Lake to the northeast of Vernon. After two days at the safehouse all communications ceased. Your team is being sent in to find out what happened and resolve the situation.

Seattle Team Extraction - Day 14

Conflict arose within the group at the lodge when Evie was discovered having (apparently) sabotaged the generator and in the process of mucking with a sloppy/amateurish gasoline bomb. Before the team could discuss matters, Rona shot and killed Evie. This led to a series of accusations, altercations, and various breakdowns. Soon after her death, a bear began stalking the perimeter with a particularly vile temperament and viciously attacked anybody who went outside.

The Seattle team dispatched the bear, much to the Canadian team's relief who were all unusually terrified of the creature, but found the Canadians still unwilling to leave as they were afraid of the other members. Only Abraham seemed eager to leave once the bear was neutralized. As the team was cleaning up after the kill and scouting, Colin and Dermond existed from the cabin and began sneaking around the back of the lodge but Anya, on recon, noticed them and alerted the team. The Seattle team was hesitant to battle but Oleg and Colin forced a gun fight which resulted in Colin's blooody death (being shot four times, including a mortal head wound), Oleg suffered a minor wound, Charles took a grazing shot to the head, and Dermond was subdued after a brief melee.

Anya retrieved a truck from the vehicle shed and loaded in Colin and Dermond but inside the lodge Oleg had started a fire. Jeffrey was with Abraham when he saw an armed Oleg running up the stairs away from the blaze. Abraham jumped out of the window to the truck while Oleg kicked down Rona's door and emptied his magazine into her. While this was going on, Charles took a closer look at a vile sac Brock had noticed earlier by the generator. Finger-length maggots poured out of the sac when pierced with a knife and Charles poured all the caustic ingredients he could find onto the slithering pile.

As the lodge burned, the team departed but Anya and Brock followed Oleg's flight into the eastern wilderness. On motorcycles, they caught up with him and Anya tried to communicate with Oleg who was injured and discharging his weapon into the woods while screaming. A fight ensued with Oleg knocking Anya down but ultimately being shot by her and then beaten down by Brock and subdued.

The surviving Canadians were dispatched to separate remote locations and their Cell notified of each member's whereabouts.

Results

Evie killed by Rona
Colin killed by wounds from Oleg, Brock, and Charles
Rona killed by Oleg
Abraham relatively unharmed
Dermond lightly injured
Oleg moderately injured but also suffered a strange wound to his leg out in the woods before his confrontation with Anya and Brock
Vanessa contracted a rapid onset disease from the bear and was fortuitously run over by Anya (which is actually significant and not just funny)

Possible Research Projects
1. The bear's tissue samples and its very unusual pineal gland
2. The strange chip that Charles removed from the radio transmitter
3. One of the maggots that had nestled itself in a team member's clothing but was discovered
