The assault drone looks like a larger version of the scout drone. It is a disc about three feet across and ten inches thick at the center, though it gets thinner at the edges. It doesn't have as many or as delicate sensors as the scout drone, and is not as fast, topping out at about 80 kph (combat MA of 20; 60m/combat round). Its range has not been tested at this time.
With this drone's relatively low speed, limited sensors and the fact that all of its heavy weapons have limited ammo capacity, the assault drone is probably intended to swoop in, dump its payload and flee the scene, or used as semi-static defense at a location they can be quickly reloaded.
Weapon Systems
When it was used by Draco, it was able to field several different and devastating weapon systems. These have not been tested or researched yet, but the resident drone pilot, Doug Wilson, has determined that weapon 1 in the user interface firing queue is a devastating "pulse missile" that explodes on impact, and weapon 3 is some variant of the Needler weapon, silently firing a cloud or rapid stream of flechettes. Weapon 2 is a railgun-type weapon system. Standard loadout is 2 pulse missiles, 6 railgun charges, and 3 flechette canisters each for the dual needler weapon. There is also a short-range electrical stunner, a heavier version of the defensive weapon on the scout drone.
This technology has not been researched.
