--Matts 00:20, 21 June 2007 (MST)If you have ideas, no matter how ludicrous, list them here, and I'll respond with how I think they'd work.  I envision everyone in the group leading a unit if they'd like to.  If they don't, hey, cool, we'll figure something else cool out.

--Edmiao 09:43, 14 June 2007 (MST) I think a Nate archetype is in order.

--Edmiao 08:43, 21 June 2007 (MST) ??  are we going to be one group of 6 marines, or are we going to be a group of 6-8 units of marines with each player as the lead person?

--Gabe--  If possible I would like to play a dreadnaught.
+
--Matts 09:08, 21 June 2007 (MST)Well, you could lead like 5 marines, and get 5x2d8 Thing dice for them, or if you wanted to take Terminator armor and up your power armor's dice to like 2d10 you could do that too.  Or, if you wanted to be Badass McGee in Delta Squad, you could take extra dice for your badassery in lieu of dice for Marines that work under you.  We can determine the exact composition of the force once everyone's preferred concept is up.

At first I thought that was really funny...until I realized you might be serious.  If gabe gets to play a dreadnaught, I want to play a tiger-bot.

There are mechanical implications to the choices, and I'd prefer it if people stuck to being Marines or attached characters, but if someone (gabe) really wants to play a terminator or Dreadnought, it's mechanically possible, and I'd like to invite them to do it.

--Matts 12:16, 14 June 2007 (MST)You won't get any extra dice for being a dreadnought, in fact, you'd probably wind up with less dice since you wouldn't have as many Things. Furthermore, I'm not sure the game would really be interesting for a dreadnought; there should be more going on than just fighting, and Dreadnoughts generally aren't brought out except during battles or consultation.

--Gdaze 11:19, 21 June 2007 (MST) Wait so at first you said no Terminators, now up there you say we can play a Terminator, then you say you would prefer we don't play a Terminator? I mean if you want us to all be standard Space Marines just say so!  Heh heh, but yeah, so I can play a Terminator or a Dreadnought eh... I wouldn't mind being a Dreadnought, might be fun to play.  Plus I'd have like old knowledge and stuff... or would I have to buy that?  I don't even know how this system works.  I mostly just want to play a Terminator so I can use lightening claws.

--Gabe-- Whats the point in solving problems with words when you have a mounted double barrell heavy bolter?  ANSWER ME THAT!!!  Like:<br>

--Matts 11:28, 21 June 2007 (MST)I'm saying that what you want to play is ok by me, because we'll balance it regard to the rest of the players. You could make a regular marine with lightning claws if you wanted, or a terminator, or dreadnought, whatever.  After discussing the one-shot aftermath, I realized that the game can handle it.
Villian: "Well I'll give you the key but first you must do something fendish for me that makes you question your morals and send you on a dark path you never thought possible, mwu-ha-ha."<br>

Characters:  "Damn, we will have to do what he says, and argue about it for hours as our morals are called into question!"<br>

Or the alternate response.<br>

"Captin this is a waste of time, I suggest we use our heavy weapons on the target and search for the key ourselves."<br>

"Granted"<br>

A fine paste is left behind.<br>

Ah well, just a thought. Since you know we are "on the run" I figured they might just have me deployed anyway.  I don't care about dice, I just thought it might be fun to play.  In that case I am thinking of either being a Lightening Claws Terminator(because for some reason in the future, all combat is done at 50 feet or less).  Or can we even be Terminators?  B'ah let me put my list.

--Gdaze -- Sweet, sounds good, now just need to decide what I wanna play then.

Terminator - Either Assult Cannon or Lightening Claws

Characters
Medic - Whatever these are called again.  Chaplin I think.
+
Tech Priest - Not sure if they have any, I know most chapaters have some.

How about those?

--Jason 12:37, 14 June 2007 (MST)Im gonna be Corbullo, Sanguinary Priest and Ill swoop down with my retinue in my own personal ornithopter and drink all your blood.  Then Ill go back and watch Slayer's Live Undead on my big screen.  Its totally rad to have a retinue.

Gabe-- Nice.  Also whatever I end up playing my name will be Tony.

--Jason 12:57, 14 June 2007 (MST)Tony the Tiger Terminator.  Orange and black and BAD ASS.

--Matts 14:27, 14 June 2007 (MST)Chaplain or Tech-priest, those are fine.  Sanguinary priests get a special ability which is I rip up their character sheets and throw their miniature against a wall because blood angels are dumb as fuck

--Jason 14:33, 14 June 2007 (MST)Oh right.  Blood Angels are dumb, but Chaos, yeah, thats totally cool.  Not over the top ridiculous.  Not like everything else in the damn 40k universe (one of the most utterly 'dumb as fuck' universes in history).  Look on the bright side though, the miniatures are cool.

I think we can all agree that the sisters of battle were the cheesiest most ridiculous army in history.  Close second was the imperial guard.  Only the tyranids were way underpowered.<br>

The miniatures are superb though.  Also, I will assume from Jason's stance on 40k that he won't be interested in participating in this campaign.

I'm going to make a tactical marine.

--Jason 15:11, 14 June 2007 (MST)What about the Necrons and their 'you killed me, JUST KIDDING' power?  Thats pretty cheesy.

--Edmiao 15:20, 14 June 2007 (MST) undead man, that's the oldest trick in the book.  zombies.  brain eating, in space. that's rad.

--Matts 16:56, 14 June 2007 (MST)I'd say most space opera settings are cheesy by nature, I mean the genre comes from some over-the-top pulp stuffThe thing is that really good stories transcend the tropes of their setting.
