In most games it'll be at LEAST 3/4 pretty quickly, and usually can get to a pretty gross 5/6 or 6/7. And remember that it's a two-drop, so it's not all that bad to lose it to a removal spell. And removal spells don't always work as well as you might think. For example, even with no cards in the graveyard to begin with, it automatically survives a [http://ww2.wizards.com/gatherer/CardDetails.aspx?name=tarfire Tarfire]. Which, as you say, is why adding tribal stuff (and planeswalkers) makes it better than ever.
