considered a "champion of the people" kind of hero in the late 60s and early 70s, shockwave did a lot of crime-fighting and street-cleaning (the kind you do with your fists, not with your broom, kid) at a time when most prominent Supers were being recruited by the government to fight the Reds. Although he was approached by numerous heroes and their adjunct organizations, shockwave declined repeatedly. Nevertheless, he rose to become a symbol of the "American way"Shortly after his rapid rise in fame, Shockwave suffered a crushing defeat by a never identified group of supervillains and announced his retirement.  In recent years, the familiar form of shockwave has been seen again, rocketing through the skies...

Shockwave's background has been reworked: he's now a new, young hero, a sidekick in the truest sense of the word to [whichever character gives me the best benefits package...in which case I guess it'll have to be wik, since we all know he has the biggest package by far.] Ever the optimist, Shockwave is well known for his daredevil heroics.
