considered a "champion of the people" kind of hero in the late 60s and early 70s, shockwave did a lot of crime-fighting and street-cleaning (the kind you do with your fists, not with your broom, kid) at a time when most prominent Supers were being recruited by the government to fight the Reds. Although he was approached by numerous heroes and their adjunct organizations to join the anti-communist fight, shockwave declined repeatedly.  Nevertheless, he rose to become a symbol of the "American way"Shortly after his rapid rise in fame, Shockwave suffered a crushing defeat by a never identified group of supervillains and announced his retirement.  In recent years, the familiar form of shockwave has been seen again, rocketing through the skies...

Shockwave's background has been reworked: he's now a new, young hero, a sidekick in the truest sense of the word to [whichever character gives me the best benefits package...in which case I guess it'll have to be wik, since we all know he has the biggest package by far.] Ever the optimist, Shockwave is well known for his daredevil heroics.
