NiE is an epic board game produced by Eagle Games and designed by Glenn Drover. It is likely an all day or near all day event.
Contents
Variants
The game comes with many advanced rules that are mix and match. Amir and I played it once before and I cant remember which rules we used. This section will be used to discuss which rules we like and dislike.
Files
Here are some files we can all refer to when discussing the game. The rulebook[1]. Advanced NiE[2]. Charge the Guns [3]
Advanced Rules
In the rulebook they list a selection of optional advanced rules. As far as I can remember Amir and I used only the advanced units and nothing else. I believe we played historical as well. I am fine with either historical or a-historical.
Cards
These are drawn each turn and also when you participate in major battles.
Attrition
Its harder to campaign in Spain or Russia.
Forced march
You can roll to move extra spaces, but its a risk.
Non-player nations start with ships and donate them to the cause which recruits them.
Countercharges
Cavalry can save action points and use them to countercharge.
Initiative
Cavalry and leaders affect who sets up first and move first in battle.
Reinforcement
When you attack from multiple regions units might arrive at different times.
Terrain
Randomly rolled terrain is on each side of the battlefield.
New Units
Horse artillery and light infantry.
Thoughts
JASON: I think most of these sound good, but I am kind of against terrain and reinforcement, while cool, could turn a major battle into a minor one and then back into a major.
Scenarios
Last time we played the first scenario, this time I suggest we play the second.
Players
So far Amir, Steve and Chris D have expressed interest in this. Anyone else who wants in, say so!
Schedule
