Lieutenant Commander Ma'Loq of the house of Duras is the chief engineer on FSS Tahoma. Ma'loq is a loud, confident, and inspiring leader. He has really focused on the traditional Klingon beliefs as a way to deal with the dishonorable cloud of House Duras hanging around him. Ma'loq, as a young lieutenant, led several small craft through a dangerous nebula after the lead craft was destroyed by baryonic flux wind. To keep the ships safe and able to cross this nebula, he called on the old mythological tale of the Three Targs. In the story, the targs were lost in a dark swamp and they formed a line by biting and holding onto the tail of the targ in front. The front targ followed a wisp to get out of the swamp. Unfortunately, all the targs were tricked by the wisp and fell into the swamp and drowned. Ma'loq had the small craft get very close and extend their shields so they could get small and escape the nebula.
In another event, during a battle, the ship's shields were battered and the EPS conduits went offline. Ma'loq quickly rerouted the heat from the burned-out circuits to jumpstart the emergency generators so the shields could come back online. The jury-rig lasted long enough to win the battle.
