--[[User:Gdaze|Gdaze]] 22:48, 4 June 2008 (MST) Hey Brandon, do you use AIM or MSN messanger?  I'm making your dude, he is so far very good at burning things... but wanted to ask you a few questions!

--[[User:Brandon|Brandon]] 00:36, 5 June 2008 (MST) I saw that your (Gabe's) character was sneaky, and could slide and mimic and whatnot.  I don't need to be that sneaky.  I just don't want to teleport in somewhere and then knock over everything to spoil the surprise.  I like that your guy (and maybe Elemental?) are resistant to fire.  AoE centered on my friends in close combat FTW!  And, no, I don't use AIM or MSN messenger, or any such thing.  But, you can post questions here, or e-mail me at: olsenb3@u.washington.edu.

--Matts 10:20, 3 June 2008 (MST)Smoke and fire, very nice. I like the character a lot so far. Be sure to post any themes he's built around up here, and email me any ideas for a nemesis!

GABE: Quick question, for his teleportation where you thinking of like instant, or is that just how he gets around long distances, or does he have both?

--Brandon 11:33, 3 June 2008 (MST) I was thinking both. Usually, he just does instant teleportation to someplace fairly close by (Nightcrawler style). He can go farther, but that necessitates spending more time in Brim, which I foresee to be really dangerous if he is unprepared. So, the instant teleportation is basically risk-free, whereas long-distance teleportation is risky unless he spends a good amount of time meditating to steel himself.

--Edmiao 19:55, 3 June 2008 (MST)did he aquire his powers through years of study into the arcane arts, or was it a mutant gift that manifested, or something else?

--Brandon 13:39, 4 June 2008 (MST) At the moment, I'm leaning towards the atavism route, mixed with the arcane study route. Essentially, the thought is that Stone is/was an archaeologist, and stumbled across some evidence of culture different enough from all others to be considered alien, with some artifacts of curious design and composition to boot. It turns out that the culture is actually from a different plane, and that some of its people escaped to earth. Stone finds out that he is a descendant of these people, which allows him access to the plane once he puts together enough of the information he gathers to be able to make sense of the rites/mindset needed to do so. On Brim, all Stone has found so far has been ruins and traces of this old culture, but no living representatives.

This would allow a nice-tie in to the group, as I can imagine Stone approaching Viho to get *special* archaeological equipment to pursue his research - both on Earth and on Brim. I think Viho's curiosity might get piqued by a request to create versions of his scanners, etc. that can withstand incredibly high temperatures and whatnot.

Archetype:

Roguish Spellcaster - Stone's teleportation ability means that he can get in and out of places with ease, which makes him be able to work as a good "grease man" in the right circumstances, and I want to give him some good sneakiness to boot. But, he can also fill the distance attack/AoE spellcaster roll, complete with a bit of the weenie clothie weakness. Lastly, he's also got the occult/arcane knowledge thing going on.

Themes:

(1) The Past, and the lost knowledge contained therein.

(2) Escapism - A struggle to stay in touch with everyday reality. Why get bogged down in earthly details when you can always (literally) escape into another, fascinating world?

(3) The dangers of pursuit of powerful knowledge - at every turn, Stone faces the possibility of getting burned (ha!) in his pursuit of his people's history and archive of knowledge.

Nemesis:

I have a few inchoate thoughts on nemesis possibilities.

(1) Some rival archaeologist/corporate group intent on learning the secrets that Stone is uncovering. They will stop at nothing, AT NOTHING, to get their hands on them (muuuhhahahahahaha).

(2) A force from Brim, perhaps some representative of the force that destroyed the culture of Stone's ancestors and forced them to flee the plane. Could be some big fiery elemental type, or something else.

GABE: Oooh, kinda like a half-blooded magic user? Sounds cool. Story aside, what kinda power set you looking for?

Minion Master - Your able to do a few things on your own but its buffing your minions that really count.

Controller - You have some direct damage abilities but most of your spells envolve taking control of the sitution.

Burn-a-nator - You can dish out tons of damage causing abilities.

Another way to think of it is, what aspects would you like to draw the most from of these? Your dude could have some tie-ins with me. My guy is immune to fire for the most part (which I guess is odd as I'm liquid metal...).

GABE: How sneaky you want your dude to be? My guy is already fairly sneaky, he can't teleport but I can get through any small cracks plus take on the shape of other's.

--Edmiao 15:15, 4 June 2008 (MST) yeah, that's a great tie in to Viho, who i had as an early achievment development of archeo-scanner sonographic tech. I like arch nemesis #2 above.
