XCOM: Gray Dawn

The Collective is a group of alien races that inhabit worlds in the Milky Way galaxy. They are zealously expansionistic, and seem to operate as a society through some manner of hive-mind. They likely consist of one or more "master" races, and other member races are enslaved to them somehow.

The name was given to them by Draco, and therefore may not be what they call themselves. Seeing as how he rapidly learned human language by observing our digital transmissions into space, some of the names he has tried to give things were the most appropriate analogues he could find from our movies, television shows and other pop culture beamed into space. For example, he originally tried to introduce himself as Han Solo or James Tiberius Kirk, but these monikers were rejected. It is possible that he named the collective after the iconic antagonists from Star Trek: The Next Generation, though parallels between this Collective and the Borg from television remain to be seen.
