I want to preface this by again reiterating that I do not vote against trades. However, the arguments put forth to support the deal range from irrelevant to inaccurate.
It is disingenuous to claim that a veto is not to second guess the judgment of another owner. That is, in fact, exactly what a veto is for. Whether the judgment is compromised because of collusion, fraud or just a misunderstanding of player value, it is exactly the judgment that is being questioned.
The fact that the deal has very little, if any, future value is also pretty meaningless. A strong majority of in season Ottoneu deals are future for now. What matters is, does the cost, 2 elite players at their position, justify the return. The jury is out, of course, but we do have some data.
Glasnow is priced like an average player right now. His $10 salary is actually above the average for him across all Ottoneu leagues, so it is not some kind of super bargain. If he can maintain this new performance level then He will have some value for a few years.
Smith is 27 and has never been near this good previously. All 4 major projection systems see him as a true talent 4 FIP guy. In Ottoneu, that is a replacement level pitcher.
If that sounds like an acceptable deal for 2 elite players for one year, so be it.
