Revision as of 13:09, 14 December 2007
This page is for discussion of stuff related to the game coming up this week, no matter when that actually is. For instance, we can all assume Nate isnt coming for some lame reason and that Ed is sick of pizza and is bringing teriyaki or some other crap. They can post something here if that happens to be untrue.

--Edmiao 09:44, 10 December 2007 (MST) Matt, you up for WFRP on 1/3? will we have a quorum for attendance? Did matt leave for japan already? i guess we will just play it by ear, or plan another exemplars for 1/3
Attendance and Food preference
12/14/07
BEN: present. Are we doing exemplars? I assume yes, but a confirmation from the GM(s) would be comforting.
--Edmiao 15:18, 10 December 2007 (MST)present. no pizza as usual. unless you are getting costco. for some reason i really like costco pizza. i think it's the half inch of cheeze they pile on.
GABE: I know, its so nasty but good at the same time. But, no pizza for me this time either. I will be attending however to ruin everyones' time.
--Dieter the Bold 16:26, 10 December 2007 (MST) Attending, but maybe slightly late due to OT requirements from work. Would like some pizza.
--Walt Jonse 15:54, 11 December 2007 (MST) Unless Jason says different, Pizza for me as well. As far as I know, Exemplars is what we will be doing.
--Gdaze-- So just wondering, would you all like to play at my place this week? Makes it much easier for me to get to 6 o'clock magic kekeke. Also I live right next to a Costco.
--76.164.21.217 13:02, 12 December 2007 (MST)Thats kind of a long ass way for me. I would need to go home, pick up Matt, then drive to Kirkland. It takes a half hour to get to Bens in traffic, and thats only halfway. If its our only option, then I can do it. Another consideration is I am going to have to be near my email constantly all night. We have a major rollout friday and I have to be ready to send updates to the company as they are available.
BEN: let's just do my place: that'll split the difference for everyone, and its easiest for Ed, Dieter, Matt (when he's around), and myself.
--Gdaze-- Sounds fine by 'o' me. Just noticed you guys mentioned my place before so thought I'd offer.
--Jason 19:24, 13 December 2007 (MST)IMPORTANT UPDATE: It is possible that I will not be available tomorrow. If this is so, it is highly likely we cant play. I got hit with a work avalanche that while it isnt debilitating, it will require that I have constant access to my computer all weekend long, with the ability to send and respond to email basically immediately. Sorry for the late notice, but things have changed drastically in the last two days, and they continue to change (case in point, I got a call that triggered this while driving home).
BEN: If exemplars is cancelled tomorrow night, we will still meet at my place. We can just play magic all night, or I will happily run a one shot, although I'll leave that up to the assembled throng. If there's something the aforementioned assembled throng can do to help make exemplars happen tomorrow night, let us know (I'm a little limited in what I personally can offer to do, since I will have to get the pizza). BTW, I will probably get costco pizza tomorrow night, because I want to buy some more orange juice there.
--ED: lame. i'll go in for costco pizza. Can Matt2 run exemplars without you, Jason? If he could bus it up to downtown, we could pick him up more easily.
--Dieter the Bold 22:31, 13 December 2007 (MST) I can get Matt2 to our place with a minimum of walking and on 2 buses. 131/134 from your place to downtown, then 11 from downtown to right across from our building. Check out http://tripplanner.metrokc.gov for time schedules and maps. I'm sure we could get a volunteer to take him back as well.
--Gdaze-- While canceling does suck I understand. And yeah I'll still be down for magic, I got a lot of fun decks to try out.
--Jason 08:36, 14 December 2007 (MST)So yeah, I owe you guys. I am actually working now, at 7am. Weak sauce.
--Gdaze-- Tis cool, not like it is something you can control, much like my burning desire for you. Well if it just gonna be magic today I'll be there 'round the normal time. I'm not really down for a one shot myself.
--Edmiao 09:53, 14 December 2007 (MST) so what say about the time, 6pm or 7pm? and what was the verdict on matt2 with busses?
BEN: alright, since we're just gonna play magic, let's just meet at 7. Pizza for Ed, Myself, Dieter, and Justin, correct?
--Edmiao 11:21, 14 December 2007 (MST) that was unclear to me, was matt2 coming to gm without jason or not? correct for me pizza.
--Gdaze-- I could bring a smaller board game. Like zombies or something.
BEN: Dieter mentioned that he wanted to play settlers. I guess this could be cool cause then kim could play as well, but the only copy of that game is far away at northgate. But bring whatever, I guess, we can mix it up. As far as I interpreted it, the implication of Jason's comment is that No Jason = No Matt/Walt. Regardless, I'm ready to spank some more people with my balance deck.
Ranting and raving or other random comments
BEN: Yesterday was really fun and I'm glad everything is back on track: so Exemplars and WFRP it is. I had a blast and it seems that everyone else did too. Starting in January, we should switch back to our 3 week/3 week rotation, unless we want to change that. We should probably discuss location at some point: the most convenient places for most people, I think, are Gabe's place and the BnD gaming wunderhaus. Is it really inconvenient for Jason and Matt to come here?
--Edmiao 14:00, 9 December 2007 (MST) I thought the session went very well also. as for location, for me Jason's place took a lot longer to get to than Gabe's or Ben's (40-50 minutes vs 10-15 minutes).
--Gdaze-- Good good, glad to hear we can keep playing it. So what did you all think of the movie? I just thought it was pretty to look at but overall not a great movie.
--76.164.21.217 13:15, 10 December 2007 (MST)Two things: Seems we have determined that No Gabe=Yes Fun (or if you are a math wizard !Gabe=Fun) AND Golden Compass was pretty terribly written but with nice CG. Armored bears (who break off into deeply personal stories within minutes of meeting random kids)? Are you kidding?
--Edmiao 13:31, 10 December 2007 (MST) Cheryl and I didn't have as strong a dislike for the movie as Ben, Kim and Matt did. That said, it was pretty bad, but not the biggest piece of shit i've ever seen. However, my opinion may be colored by the fact that i saw pirates of the carribean 3 the night before, so any piece of shit would smell like roses in comparison to that disney character sewage waste disposal of a movie.
--Matts 14:31, 10 December 2007 (MST)Golden Compass could have used like 40 more minutes of running time. I think they were pretty harsh in the editing room, but honestly that was only a part of the problem.
--Gdaze-- Oh snap, you wanna go IP 76.164.21.217??? I know I don't contribute to the story by mindlessly talking about math equations or play on the labtop. Kekekeke. Over all the movie to me was just entertaining. It had no messsages or anything "deep" to think about as some reviewers said. The movie needed more armored polar bears fighting. In fact, I would like a movie of just that, maybe fighting some kind of armored or psychic penguins. BUT SPEED RACER! Yes please.

Microsoft Playtest
BEN: I'm doing one of those usability tests that Ed told us about...and I'm supposed to bring 3-7 friends next thursday, the 20th. The thing starts between 6:30 and 7, and I'm not sure how long it will run, but any/all of you are welcome to come along and/or bring friends of your own, until the seven slots are filled.
--Edmiao 13:53, 11 December 2007 (MST) what are you testing?
BEN: they didn't say. Anyways, I have to send in names and contact info today, so if any of you want to come, let me know in the next couple of hours (say before 3pm).
--Edmiao 13:04, 12 December 2007 (MST) not for me. i had mentioned it to sarah and she had signed up but got no offers as of yet. so i was asking her if she wanted to join your event.
Weekly Magic Whining/Complaining/Smack Talking
--Edmiao Magic Workstation. this link has a link to the download page and another link to a walkthrough. you have to download the magic workstation program and then download a card database.
--Edmiao 13:08, 12 December 2007 (MST) its taken me all week to just go through the red, black and artifact cards. now i have this huge stack which would all go well in a deck. its so hard to whittle it down.
--Gdaze -- You bastard, you gonna have another deck made entirly out of printed cards again? I've made some interesting decks over the last few weeks but no chance to try them out.
I did pick up two X edition revised packs just for fun and one of my rares was the royal assassin, classic. That said I think if I ever bought magic cards again I'd use dave and adam's card world, they are like a buck 25 less then what they are in stores for the newest ones.
--Edmiao 15:13, 12 December 2007 (MST) no, it's a real deck, first i've made with the new card infusion. supposed to feature the combo Dragon Mage 5/5 flying, if he damages a player in combat all players dicard hands and draw 7.....plus Megrim: 2 damage per discard. and healthy dose of hypnotic spectres to go with the megrim.
--Gdaze -- Sounds pretty nasty. I got a legandary dragon in one of my guild boosters. Everytime his controller draws a card the dragon deals one damage to target player or creature. Combined with the blue spell I have that lets you draw a card for one blue and one colorless that ALSO has splice... I think it could get pretty gross. Actually... with the dragon mages it'd get INSANELY gross.
Oh, and maybe use the new artifact I got that makes it so you (the controller) have no limit on your hand size...
Just to let ya see him...
http://www.trollandtoad.com/p137275.html
I totally forgot that you can tap him to draw a card as well.
--Edmiao 15:51, 12 December 2007 (MST) I actually think that this dragon mage deck is going to suck. the dragon mage costs 7 to get out, so by the time you cast it the game is over. i have some stuff to speed the deck up, but proably not enough. the concept is to slow the game down by making opponents discard so that you can eventually cast the dragon mage. but given the decks we make, it will likely get counterspelled or fireballed. we'll see how it works. i'll play it a bit, then tune it up.
BEN: that blue/red dragon is freaking nasty, although the casting cost is kind of rough. Of course, it, like the dragon mage, are going to be public enemy #1 for your opponent(s) cause they are so damn foul.
The Next Step in WHFRP Reboot
--Edmiao 16:32, 12 December 2007 (MST) Jason, Matt2, you guys joining WFRP? just curious. next episode will include fireworks.
GDAZE: OMG, I hope we end up blowing ourselves up and spending a fate point.
--Edmiao 16:42, 12 December 2007 (MST) my plan is to spend my one fate point to let me blow up the whole group. then they can all spend a fate point to survive the blast. wait, then i have no fate points left to save my own character. ah well, it will be a fitting end.
--Gdaze -- I would hope Matt wouldn't let us burn fate points like that heh heh, I think we already learned what happens when players have that much control! What our are characters even trying to do in WHF anyway? Shouldn't we hunt down that ass who stole all our moneyz?
The Next Step in Exemplars
--Walt Jonse 15:58, 11 December 2007 (MST) I would like to know what you would like to do in the game this coming session. This will help me prepare a few things etc.
Ed: topics for investigation: the world freedom alliance, the identity and allegance of XI, the intentions of Mr. Immortal. Viho will go to the WFA ball to these ends.
Gabe: Oh, who is Mr. Immortal? Like we met him? And did my guy get to talk to Dieter's guy yet? If not that will be for sure on my to do list. Otherwise pretty much the same reasons. Also I want to know who funded our good professor's research, see if any have ties with the Freedom Alliance.
--Edmiao 14:11, 12 December 2007 (MST)someone should write a recap for you. After much cajoling, Viho did convince Geoffry to spend a little time at venture industries, but hub was not around.
Also for GMs, I think Viho had some lines of investigation ongoing. Aimee (the computor programer at Venture Ind.) was going to try to hack into the warehouse computers to see what kind of malicious software may be present, or if there was evidence of naer'do'welling. Viho himself was researching scientists/inventors who might be capable of making XIs holographic projector (if that's what it was) as well as refreshing his knowledge of Verson Getorix (who would be included amongst the greatest inventors ever).
--76.164.21.217 14:22, 12 December 2007 (MST)This is all noted. I had meant to go over stuff with Matt Monday, but things did not work out. We have that tentatively scheduled for Thursday. Look for answers on those things that evening.
--76.164.21.217 14:29, 12 December 2007 (MST)One more thing. Matt and I discussed this and considering the excellent portrayal of the Highwayman by Brandon, the Dandy One will not be returning as an NPC, he will only be present when Brandon can play him.
--Gdaze-- Hey quick question for Jason and Matt nibon. I was hoping you could forward me Matt's email Jason, like to my hotmail account. That is the one I will primarly use from now on. I'd like to dicuss some of my guy's powers and how I should be able to expect to use them. Although I'm weak in combat my powers can be serously powerful in info gathering and tracking people down.
--76.164.21.217 17:11, 12 December 2007 (MST)Sent. I suggest we go over some of the stuff in the mentallist book, like mental martial arts, for instance.
