This page is for discussion of stuff related to the game coming up this week, no matter when that actually is. For instance, we can all assume Nate isnt coming for some lame reason and that Ed is sick of pizza and is bringing teriyaki or some other crap. They can post something here if that happens to be untrue.

Attendance and Food Preference
8/8/08
--Edmiao 11:57, 3 August 2008 (MST) i should be there this week, no anticipated bail-inducing events on tap. 6pm magic is go. no pizza.
--Gdaze-- Also will be there, 6 o'clock magic good, yah? I want to try my blue/green deck out one on one as I think it won't fair as well.
--Dieter the Bold 11:52, 6 August 2008 (MST) No current plans for Friday that would last into the evening, so I'll be there by 6pm.
--Gdaze-- We doing pizza?
--Dieter the Bold 16:23, 8 August 2008 (MST) I'm getting a Pudge Bros. pizza just for me. But if other people wanted in, they can call me in the next 45 minutes
Ranting and raving or other random comments
--Gdaze-- So to those interested. Noelle and I are playing pretty regularly on CoH/CoV. Also now if you buy one, or already have one, you can play either or. Its pretty much a punch fest but so far playing with people has made it quite fun. Its a 15 bucks a month subscribtion fee. We play on the RP, kinda, server; Virture. Also we currently are only playing heroes but likely will make villians in the future. So if you want to play or are going to, let me know!
--Edmiao 16:22, 4 August 2008 (MST)what did one tampon say to the other? Nothing, they were both stuck up cunts.
--Gdaze-- Is that ranting, raving, or random? I vote random!
BEN: in the case of gabe's mom they could, cause they're both stuck in the same flabby cunt
--Edmiao 17:30, 4 August 2008 (MST) now young man, that kind of language is uncalled for.
--Gdaze-- GASP~
JASON: Matt#2 plays CoH, so you should email him. He would like a team I bet. Also, I just saw the sneak preview of Hell Ride and its recommended. A very well put together movie. Not as good as Iron Man or Dark Knight, but next in line. Tons of sex and violence, though somehow not over the top.
--Gdaze 22:49, 4 August 2008 (MST) Vat is his email?
JASON: waltjonse@gmail.com
ED: hey jason, you said your car got good milage, what was the milage and what kind of car? friend looking to trade in her grand cherokee (11mpg for her $5000 per year in gas)
Ed- hey jason, see question above
JASON: My car is a 2005 Hyundai Accent. It cost around $10k new and was EPA at 42 MPG or something like that in the stick without AC. Mine has AC, but still gets around 40 most of the time (or did when I didnt need a tune up and when my tires werent bald). How much is the Cherokee worth?
--Edmiao 16:52, 6 August 2008 (MST) she bought it for $45k in 2005. it gets 11 mpg. now three year later it blue books for $9-11k depending on condition. ouch.
JASON: Ouch is right. Holy crap, she probably owes 3 times that on it too. I would like to have a larger vehicle to keep around for certain emergencies or trips, but damn. Thats some depreciation.
--Edmiao 16:58, 6 August 2008 (MST) it's paid off, she's a cardiologist (Liz, for ben's curiosity) who bought it to pull her horse trailer. i think she can take the hit.
--Gdaze-- Wow, 5,000? Rich or not, thats just plain wasteful! Man... I've never really asked someone with an SUV how much they spend on gas but wow...
--Edmiao 08:29, 7 August 2008 (MST)yup, do the math, if she drives 13,000 miles per year (a lot by my bike commuting standards, but i think not unusual) divided by 11 miles per galon times $4 per gallon = $4727. that funds a lot of terrorist trips to the gabe's mom saloon.
--Gdaze-- Yeah but they could be going there, a lot, on 10 cents a gallon, so that isn't saying much.
Other RPG or Non-RPG gaming Events
shindig on aug 30/31
JASON: Also, I will be having a massive shindig for mine and Rumi's birthdays on either August 30th or 31st. I would like to see as many of you jokers as possible attend. Mark it on your calendar. I am planning on renting a venue so we have plenty of space for games, Rock Band, and partying. Does anyone know of a centrally located, reasonably priced, venue?
GABE: I'd like to come, I'm trying to be more social. A central and big location for partying thats cheap? *insert your mom comment*
KIM: Oooh, I'll be back in town then, might have a job that weekend, but will try to keep it during reasonable hours so that I can show up and commandeer the potato chip bowl... *nom nom nom*
--Dieter the Bold 16:37, 21 July 2008 (MST) Will be moving into a new place, but should be able to spare a day. Consider me attending. The only venue I could think of that's sorta' central and maybe reasonably priced is an educational building. Gym of a high school, community college, Seattle U., etc.
Weekly Magic Whining/Complaining/Smack Talking
ED: fork rulings
GABE:
Hi all. Would anyone be interested in buying a box of Shadowmoor and spiliting it? This one place has a booster box for only 84 bucks, well 85 really. Or even go thridsies on it? The packs come out to about 2.36, which is pretty cheap. Also since Shadowmoor has like 306 card types a good mix is possible. If we did threesies, we'd each get 12 packs (~28 bucks each)... and since you guys combine your cards it'd be even better. If not I may just pick up either a box of Rivnica or Guildpact (as I LOVED the other half box I got of these, really fun cards). I'd be willing to spilt on these as well.
Let me know if anyone is intersted, the place is actually local so I could just go pick them up.
Ed, what have you done to us?
JASON: If I were smart I would ignore this, but since I am not I may be interested. We should have a trading extravaganza some time. I have 50 million of a lot of cards, some of them really good. Plus I would like to try my decks against something other than my other decks (in duel).
--Edmiao 14:47, 6 August 2008 (MST)i (and ben) found an awesome deal for magic cards and went for it. cus that one awesome deal plus my set was like an infinite number of cards for deck building. you are the suckers who have bought into the never ending escalation of magic marketing and continue to buy cards. if you were smart, you would wait for this set to get old, and then buy more awesome deals form the suckers who bought into the marketing. that's why i'm not buying any more. suckas.
my bad on some wiki missed blocking somehow.
GABE: Extreme wiki block skillz. Eh, at 2.50 a pack I don't think its a bad deal. Plus I really like the whole block. And I ain't gonna wait no 3-5 years to save a bit of money... (also look at the Urza cards, those ones are really old and now go for around 10 bucks a booster, yeesh). Where'd you found the awesome deal? I haven't had much luck with Craig's list... plus if I want a bunch of random cards I'll just go get more penny cards.
Also, dear lord, thats a lot of aggrestion towards people buying cards.
JASON: Who's the sucka? I bought 13,500 cards for $300. This included a foil Akroma, Angel of Wrath as well as 3 Glimmer Void and 2 Broodstar (the list goes on...). One thing that is not being mentioned here is that its FUN to open packs. $28 isnt a lot of money, and when combined with opening packs and getting cards to play, I dont see any suckers.
--Edmiao 15:26, 6 August 2008 (MST) 300 for 13k cards now thats a deal. i think i paid 90 for the however many cards that was that we got. good deal. i just know that i paid 90 for the recent deal, which was equal size to my set, which bought pack at a time cost way way way more than that. god only knows how much it cost. that deal was on craigs list. sucka
GABE: Yeah thats why I like to buy packs... OPENING THEM! Its freaking fun. Even Noelle, who knows very litle of magic likes to open packs. Angel of Wrath, isn't that kinda a rare card, and highly sought after?
JASON: Yeah, its Fisty McBeaterson: http://www.trollandtoad.com/p107825.html But that isnt even the best. I forgot I bought some dudes L5R cards (like 7500 of them) for $50, then he threw in his magic deck which had Tolarian Academy and Phyrexian Dreadnaught, both $20 cards. Been gettin' a little lucky!
We should be playing:[1] Haha, although I think these games would take REALLLY long. Could be fun though. Just make it out of odd cards we don't have in our better decks.
JASON: I dont think Prismatic takes that much longer than normal games. It just means you cant rely on combos as much. Heck, there was a top level player who entered some big tournaments (and did well) with a 237 card deck based on getting Battle of Wits out. Another fun magic variant that is really easy is to take a large stack of random cards (no lands) and stick them in a pile in the center of the table. Both players draw from this pile. Any card can be played face down as a land which produces any color. It teaches you to play well with cards and strategies that arent what you as a player might normally build in a deck. Its also really surprising.
GABE: That random thing sounds fun, and very easy to do with the collection at B&D's... Maybe we should try this Friday.
--Edmiao 15:19, 7 August 2008 (MST) we could take the pile of unsorted cards from decks past and use it. should contain many favorites
GABE: Sweet, lez do it!
GABE: [2]
WHAT...THE...FUCK? Okay we talk about over-powered cards... but this? Two mana to mill 10 freaking cards???
--Edmiao 09:04, 8 August 2008 (MST) that card has extremely limited utility. it's hard to make an effective mill deck.
GABE: Whatever dude. This card, fork, fork, now half their deck is gone. Ben's mill deck did pretty well, and didn't even use that orb.
--Edmiao 09:43, 8 August 2008 (MST) i'm just saying that as unbalanced cards go, that one doesn't come into the top 100.
GABE: Yeah but you whine about any card that came out after 6th edition, bwuhahahaha! And no, its not the most powerful card, but really powerful for two mana, (the shadowmoor mill is almost as good, 8 cards if you tap two creatures... plus that one can be played with either or mana... hmmmm) I really do think Shadowmoor cards are fairly out of control though.
JASON: Thats not the only card that puts 10 in the graveyard, either (I cant remember the name of the other, but I have one). Milling is now effective with the right cards. I have 2 creatures that put opponents stuff in the graveyard besides Scalpelexis. Throw in Tormods Crypt and hand destruction and it could be viable. I hope to put it to the test soon.
--Edmiao 10:35, 8 August 2008 (MST) i've always wanted to make a good mill deck. adding forced discard to it would help, good idea. my last mill deck was pretty sucky, although it did win sometimes, but painfully slowly.
--Matts 11:32, 8 August 2008 (MST)I really dislike mill decks. I don't know why, but playing them is somehow grating.
GABE: Eh, milling is just something to do besides creatures. Man, what to buy, a box of Shadowmoor or a box of Guildpact... or neither... As cool as Shadowmoor cards are I really dislike hobbits, oops, Kithkin. Even if I won with one them, I just imagen myself standing there while my hobbits danced about... I'd feel ashamed and angery at them... Whoa, quite a rant there eh? And yet I still do use them!
Oh I picked up some Eventide... didn't really like them that much.
Next step in Super Heroes
--Edmiao 11:57, 3 August 2008 (MST)sorry about that bail on friday, hope the session went well.
--Gdaze 14:57, 3 August 2008 (MST) We took out a 400 foot golden statue and saved Brandon's dude, no biggie.
--Edmiao 08:07, 4 August 2008 (MST) man, wish i had been there, midget vs 400 ft statue would have been awesome.
--Dieter the Bold 10:46, 4 August 2008 (MST) Hey, now. You were there. To handle a few media questions. And drop off Solid Snake. With an unlimited credit account.
--Gdaze -- Oh and Striker accosted a bunch of minorities, and we beat up a college prof. But in all fairness he did have some sort of power armor.
--Dr. Viho Ciquala -- What? not unlimited. Talk to Sebo, I told that loser to make it commensurate with his salary! books must be balanced, bills paid! unlimited, jeez.
--Matts 18:24, 4 August 2008 (MST)His salary is pretty big, so you're looking at a pretty big bill he expensed! $20k worth of limo repair, $4k worth of limo driving, and a rather large amount of champagne and cigars. Also, there's a professor with a missing persons bulletin on him stuck in your closet.
--Dr. Viho Ciquala -- This is quite a pickle. well, the limo repair could be covered by our insurance policy, depending on what it was for..... If the champagne and cigars were procured for business related purposes then they might be tax deductible.?
