This page is for discussion of stuff related to the game coming up this week, no matter when that actually is. For instance, we can all assume Nate isnt coming for some lame reason and that Ed is sick of pizza and is bringing teriyaki or some other crap. They can post something here if that happens to be untrue.

--Brandon 11:18, 7 October 2008 (MST) Present, please with the pizza. I'll be at a talk on campus until right before gaming, so would appreciate a ride from the U-District (Ed?). Ben, don't let me forget that I owe you moneys from pizza the last time.
Friday 10/31 or Saturday 11/1
--Dieter the Bold 11:46, 4 September 2008 (MST) Alright lads. We're gamers, so we're lazy by definition. I am lazier than most. But Halloween is a holiday I always feel bad about for not coming up with an awesome costume. I hereby forward the motion that we make that session a costumed session. Two months to come up with something awesome and wear it to the session. Bonus points to be awarded for those who come as their characters.
--Gdaze 11:00, 5 September 2008 (MST) I'm pretty sure I will be busy on said day. If I'm not, I will come in costume... but one it is over 2 months away so I have no idea, and two, yeah, typically I got out on that holiday.
BEN: as far as halloween goes, and as long as we've opened the can of worms that is switching sessions from friday to saturday or vice versa, the 31st of october may be an ideal candidate for saturday, as opposed to friday, gaming. Either way, I still think people should come dressed as their characters.
--Edmiao 14:24, 8 September 2008 (MST) Definitely will be gone if Friday 10/31, might be able to make Saturday 11/1 but won't be able to tell you until the day o
Ranting and raving or other random comments
--Gdaze 08:08, 6 October 2008 (MST) Hey Jason, do you see Dieter or Ben often? If so I was gonna give one of them the two bucks I owez ya this Friday!
Edmiao anyone have a recommendation on a good laptop?
JASON: Gabe, I should see Dieter this weekend, so give it to him. And Ed, try outlet.dell.com, you can get great deals there. Thats where I always buy my laptops.
--Gdaze 09:02, 9 October 2008 (MST) Did one of you joker's call me last night? I got a 206 call.
Brandon I did. I was calling to see if you got MWS up and running, and if you wanted to play a game or two online. Also, I needed your Mom's phone number, but I found it scrawled on the bathroom wall at the Blue Moon.
--Gdaze -- No... the instructions on how to get the cards running seemed long, so I didn't. I'll try to today. I'd like to test out my deathtouch deck and sacrafice deck. The sac deck is pretty crazy, and I'm fairly sure it won't work, but was fun to make.
Edmiao While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75-year old Texas rancher whose hand was caught in a gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Sarah Palin and her bid to be a heartbeat away from being President.
The old rancher said, 'Well, ya know, Palin is a post turtle.'
Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a post turtle was.
The old rancher said, 'When you're driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a post turtle.' The old rancher saw a puzzled look on the doctor's face, so he continued to explain. 'You know it didn't get up there by herself, it doesn't belong up there, it doesn't know what to do while it is up there, and you just wonder what kind of dumb ass put it up there to begin with.

Sunday October 12th
Edmiao anyone up for magic this sunday afternoon, say 4 to whenever?
October 19/20
Edmiao cheryl is going away for two weeks to learn how to use a sequencing machine. so I'm hoping for magic in the evenings 10/14-23 and hopefully a magic or board game event on the 19th or 20th? anyone, anyone?
Gabe: Dang, should have checked the wiki this weekend, Noelle was working so I sat around Sunday making magic decks heh heh.
Edmiao the above posts are for this sunday and the next weekend after that!
--Gdaze 00:31, 7 October 2008 (MST) Ah yes... ahem... Sure, I'm down for some magic on Sunday, I think. Will confirm by Friday for sure. I'm trying out this venom/life deck, black/green. I don't have many black/green hybrid cards though. Hopefully I'll get my Shard cards by before this Friday, I wanna try that crazyness out.
JASON: Rumi and I will be down with either magic or board games Sunday. I am resisting the urge to take cards from my sale stock to make decks.
Edmiao never mind, can't do sunday after all. sorry
--Brandon 12:03, 7 October 2008 (MST) If no Sunday, how about Saturday afternoon?
Weekly Magic Whining/Complaining/Smack Talking
BEN: played in 5 8-person, single elimination drafts today. went 1-1, 2-1 (yay), 1-1, 0-1, 0-1. Weak finish, but pretty good overall. Picked up a couple of cool rares: 3x goblin assault (time to make a woop-ass goblin deck), empyrial archangel, Caldera hellion, among others. Also, bought some rares from Jason at his convention, mostly just ones I like the pic on, but I did buy a sigg, river guide, cause he's a bad ass. Obviously, I've also increased our alara rares/uncommons by ~225 cards or so, so we have like 500 total now.
--Brandon 14:46, 6 October 2008 (MST) Are you all interested in doing a Sealed Deck or somesuch thing this Friday with all these bitchin' new cards Ben has amassed? I think it'd be way fun.
--Gdaze 00:33, 7 October 2008 (MST) I bought some from Jason too! Only 7 bucks worth though.
I'd be down for a sealed deck, although I'm gonna be late from now on because I changed my hours so I get off at 6. I'd like to test out my normal deck too but with magic possbily on Sun, we'll see. If we DO sealed, can you pick up one from your source and I'll pay ya back?
Edmiao when you say sealed, brandon, you mean just shuffle up ben's alara cards and give everyone a stack to make a deck with? sure, why not. or we could do that sunday if it takes more time and others were interested
--Brandon 09:45, 7 October 2008 (MST) Yes, Ed, that's exactly what I mean! I mentioned something like that to Ben, and he suggested that doing a "sealed" deck thing would be easier, and take less time, than a "draft". We could just separate a big stack of cards by rarity, and then randomly create sets of cards, and each person could create a deck from one such set. I think it'd be fun, and free! On another tip, I can't play magic Sunday, but could totally play on Saturday afternoon, if that was a possibility for others.
--Matts 10:19, 7 October 2008 (MST)I'm already ransacking the alara cards for my scarecrow deck, and I want to test that out!
--Brandon 11:18, 7 October 2008 (MST) Matt, don't you want to play your Wizards deck?
Gabe: I'm just gonna bold that up there.... yeeeep.
--Gdaze Actually, Matt. I've been thinking about making a deck that is nothing but cards that hurt the owner as well at the oppenent. It wouldn't even have some super combo with it, just total ripping yourself and the other person apart. If so, you must play it, kekeke. Why do we all take such interest in what deck Matt plays?
GABE: Moved conversation from above to here.
Sound off maggots! Who here can do it Saturday? As Sunday seems to have been canceled very quickly? I can for at least an hour or two.
Also Friday I'd perfer to play some normal games, though again I will be late.
BEN: we should save a limited game set for when we have a nice dedicated time for it. Especially for a "sealed" type game, you want at least 30-60 minutes for deck construction...we can probably hit the low end of that, but still, I don't think our 1.5 hour window before gaming will be amenable to it. Let's just play regular constructed friday. I can probably play some magic saturday.
Edmiao no go for this weekend for me. but the weekend after that fo' sho
--Brandon 11:43, 9 October 2008 (MST) So, are we on for Saturday? Gabe and Ben and I seem in. Ed is out. Matt? Jason and/or Rumi? It'd best to have 4 or 5, but I'm still interested even if it's just 3 of us. I've got some decks I'd like to make, and one person could build while the other two duel. Whaddya think?
GABE: I think I can, Noelle's car is in the shop, so we'll see. I should know by tomorrow. I'd like to play for a couple hours if possible.
JASON: I could do Sunday, but probably not Saturday, we game from 1 until whenever. I just got 3 Sky Swallowers. Some day I will be as cool as Matt. Really. Im totally not kidding.
Next step in Super Heroes
Edmiao I wonder if the suveilance cameras caught cortez and the battle on tape, could be good PR sort of the Guardians most wanted list.
--Gdaze 02:29, 21 September 2008 (MST) Yeah... except then we went to the park and fought the mutant kid... had to knock out a bunch of teens with Ash Berry's spores... and um... he got away...
--Brandon 12:37, 21 September 2008 (MST) I just want to say that that last battle had a lot of great moments. Silver Snake being thrown into the air and then transforming and swinging back down in mid air; Ashbury flying above the crowd of teenagers and releasing pollen everywhere; Elemental taunting Zeus, and then not budging when the counterattack came; Brimstone walking with Silver Snake as armor, dragging a line of fire through the air, and then teleporting inside of Zeus's shield. Good times, all.
Next step in Of Amor, Armor, and Alchemy
--Gdaze 08:09, 6 October 2008 (MST) So what quest were we given in the current city?
Edmiao none. Saffo fell in love with Aefra and Gaelen really thinks they should hook up. Other than that, we are to make a list of the goods we want to bring on our treck to the wood elves and if we can find them into the dwarven tunnels through the mountains. Some old religious chick head honcho gave us unlimited funds.
--Gdaze-- Um... aren't the woodelves currently involved in genocide against fairies? Like all of them? Is there a reason we are going to these zealots?
--Matts 11:56, 6 October 2008 (MST)Why are we going to the wood elves? I need a summary!
--Brandon 14:37, 6 October 2008 (MST) Make that two summaries! Er, two calls for a summary. Does this mean you guys didn't wup the dragon in our absence? The shame! Do the troll and I have to be there to get anything done? ; )
Edmiao sorry. Orixi's lair is on the other side of the mountains. travel by sea seems out of the question, or extremely expensive and dangerous. there's a pass through the mountains, carved by the now extinct clan of dwarves in the long long ago. how to find the cave? maybe the wood elves know. and we have a half wood elf who will guide us to their forest. the wood elf forest is between us and the mountains, or at least a small stretch of it is. the greater part of the wood elf kingdom/forest is directly west, but it stretches south in a panhandle. yes, wood elves are waging genocide against fairies (bad news for aefra). she may have to not talk to them. thus the plan is, find the wood elves, get them to lead us to the cave or direct us, go through said cave and get eaten by a dragon.
--Gdaze-- Perhaps we should make it look like Aefra is a prisonor. Or just tell them the truth, we are going to see the dragon. I mean they want to kill all fairies, and I think it is very likely they will think that us going to the dragon is as good as being eatten.
--Matts 12:07, 7 October 2008 (MST)Aetan's a faerie too, remember, or part faerie at least. I think telling them the truth is a good idea. Also, we should find out why they're waging genocide. We'll need to come up with some way to deal with the faerie question, either through diplomacy or brute force.
--Gdaze-- Because they are still sour over the whole being a slave race thing. Not really our concern, nor do I want to deal with extremists (Fantus is very tired of dealing with all the polarism of the various groups). I think the faster we get through with the less whatever codes they stand for the better. Plus remember how talking went with the Knight of Flowers.
Aetan Finn I dunno, that faerie curse stuff is ancient history. The Sea Elves, for their part, didn't seem to mind us, and neither did the blood elves. Something else is going on!
Fantus Aetan Finn... someday you'll learn there are some gaps you can't bridge.
Aefra Lastrangele'i Mai'enha La Eisenhei Now you boys play nice. I think we should stay on track and not stick our nose in where it will get beat in. if that's at all possible
Fantus You know, how about this one time we actually listen to Aefra? I'm pretty sure she is spot on here! Our good friend is lying in a fire, with posion flowing through her viens, we have no way to protect her while we are here and if they discover how to take the fire down first, Gods help us! So lets concentrate on eatting eatten by the dragon. If you want to play peace keeper, do it later after we save our friend.
Tithe It is true that Aefra has been right multiple times, and we haven't listened to her. But, so far, things have worked out pretty well even though we've ignored her rightness completely! [laughs] Indeed, I think it would be foolish to get too wrapped up in the local conflict, but I have have a feeling it might wrap us up in it whether we like it or not, so we should be prepared to be able to react to it. Supposition like Aetan's can do nothing but help us to that end.
Fantus Well lets do what those greeseballs in the last city... oh we are still here, do. A vote! Who cares about the wood elves and their genocide war and would like to take time away from saving our friend to investigate? And who wants to just move as fast as possible, talking and or cutting our way out of any woodelf crazyness? I vote for the 2nd. Remember that the high charcoal burner wishes our good lady harm, and I am uncomfortable with leaving her around with a bunch of people who are unaware of this. We can always come back AFTER we save our friend.
Wait... what if I made a potion... that could hide your fairness... yes... that should work... -half surpressed laughter, then runs off to his book mumbling to himself-
Aefra Lastrangele'i Mai'enha La Eisenhei Of course we don't actually know where the dwarven cave is, and the Wood Elves are our only lead as to it's location....
Tithe Fantus, Aetan doesn't have any fairness to hide. [laughs] But, it would be quite amazing & helpful if you could hide both Aetan and Aefra's fairieness.
Aetan Finn Fantus, you misunderstand me. I do not advocate a distraction. I simply seek the bridge easiest to travel. If that bridge involves the maiming of the population entire of this forest, it will not deter me. I suggest simply that a bridge of diplomacy may prove the faster option. Discovery of an already-existing bridge would be ideal, as to build a bridge from nothing would be costly and most exhausting; I hope it does not come to that.
Fantus I don't mind talking! But spending time researching why, I'd like to avoid. I'll see what I can do about making up a potion to change their shape... hmmm... yeah that might work.
Aefra Lastrangele'i Mai'enha La Eisenhei I wonder if there is anyone else who might know where the cave is. they said the dwarves in this part of the world were all long dead. maybe there are some scholars in town who know ancient lore?
Fantus See? I say we listen to Aefra on this one, plus I owe her for knocking her down... stupid island... stupid monkies...
Aefra Lastrangele'i Mai'enha La Eisenhei oh fantus, it was nothing, all's forgiven. besides, i think i hit you first (although not at all hard). Hey, they have a magic university here, do you think they have someone who might be able to divine the location of the ancient dwarven tunnel?
Stuff we want to buy:
Horses for all plus one or two as pack animals
Winter clothing and sleeping rolls
climbing gear and rope
torches and lanterns
rations
dragon repellent
picks, shovel, other digging equipment to clear cave ins? dynamite?
Ketchup (if you can't beat 'em . . .)
--Gdaze 20:29, 9 October 2008 (MST) How much exp should we have?
Am I correct in thinking we should have 91? Also it seems I didn't have 10 exp spent from last time... wowza.
BEN: 5 sessions x 15/session +1 bonus = 76. Sorry, Gabe, it won't be 91 till the end of this session.
--Gdaze 21:16, 9 October 2008 (MST) Ah okay, that'd explain it. I'm just gonna take 2 new potions me thinks then.
BEN:
new information:
1.) Anyone with KS: Faerie or something similar knows that around the time the Faeries created the elves, they also became very covetous of jewels and fine metals. Since trade with the dwarves was, at that time, still poorly developed, Great faerie witches also attempted to create a race to mine the earth, which, in its darkness, was inherently unsavory to the fae. Fae magic, however, is highly intuitive, and much of the fear and chaos of their feelings about the underground were infused into their creation. The resulting race, which proved cunning (though not intelligent), cruel, and almost impossible to control, was called the Goblin. For a while, the fae tried to use elves as overseers for the goblins, but when this failed, they abandoned their efforts and killed off all the goblins still in their employ. It is believed, however, that some escaped on each of the three continents.
2.) Gabe: as a practitioner of hag magic, you would know that historically(as in, for the first 50 generations or so) the Fae were the undisputed masters of Hag magic: in fact, it was their primary magical discipline. Since that time, Hag magic has become less and less prominent among that race, and humans have now become preeminent in this area.
3.) Dieter: you know that although Eburon is said to have no healers, this is not technically correct. When the Angelions took over the state, they banned the temple of the goddess of love, and subsequently, all of their healing magic failed. Currently, they make extensive use of the healers of their slave race, the northern saurians.
4.) Ed: You may buy Sappho as either a DNPC or a follower, if you like, and you may wait to make your decision until after it becomes clear if she will come with you guys or not. Of course, if you don't have the disad. before the start of the session, you don't get the bonus this next session either. Depending on which you buy her as will affect, regardless of if she comes with you or not, what sort of uses she will have to the group (she will have some, and come up in the story, regardless of what happens).
