This page is for discussion of stuff related to the game coming up this week, no matter when that actually is. For instance, we can all assume Nate isnt coming for some lame reason and that Ed is sick of pizza and is bringing teriyaki or some other crap. They can post something here if that happens to be untrue.

Attendance and Food Preference
--Gdaze 12:33, 16 June 2009 (MST) Count me in, you won't be home till when this Friday Ben? Also, I'm in for pizza.
BEN: 6pm.
--Gdaze 11:13, 17 June 2009 (MST) Sweetness. Dieter! If you come at 6, I'd like to try a game of warlord with ya. If your interested, fellow D20 fan.
EDIT --Dieter the Bold 12:45, 18 June 2009 (MST) I must sadly decline, as I'll just barely be getting back in time for gaming. A lot of transportation tomorrow (2 buses to ferry, ferry to island, car riding around island, car ride off island, 3 buses to gaming). I'm up for a round after gaming (if we're not too tired).
--Gdaze 12:42, 19 June 2009 (MST) ARE we doing pizza or what? Cuz I'm totally down for some. Matt, you order it again?
--Matts 13:18, 19 June 2009 (MST)I'll take care of pizza tonight.
Edmiaoyou do that. I'll take care of your mothers tonight.
Quote(s) of the week
Elemental: (to police chief, who thanked them for their good work) That certainly isn't going to help Viho's colossal ego. (or something like that...)
CyberJesus: I'm so sick and tired of this bullshit Thomas Kinkaid police state!
Ashbury: I grow plants that may or may not be used for pharmaceutical purposes
Ed/Aefra: "I use Seduction on the baby"
"Galen, you're wearing a dress." "Yes, but I still look better in it than in you do in your clothes."
Ranting and Raving
--Gdaze 11:31, 15 June 2009 (MST) Alright, so I'm wondering this. We now have the tears, when are we going to fight the dragon? I believe we should have EVERYONE there for this, but don't want to put it off for a really long time. This is going to be a pretty epic fight. Can we try to plan when we will do this? I've never actually fought a dragon in all my years of playing fantasy RPs, so I'm pretty excited about this.
Now, about Mass Effect. By the end of this week I should have all the character creation ironed out. Matt has already rolled stats, so if Ben is okay with it, I'd like us to create characters this Friday. And I should be ready to go next week. Problem is I'd really like everyone to be there for at least the first adventure, but Matt is gone on the 29th, and of course this is quite an event... speaking of which did you send us an invite to your wedding Matt, or are you an ass? Are you actually getting married on Friday? Or that weekend?
Anyway, lets all get together here and plan how we are going to play, I can switch to a Saturday date as well if need be to fight the dragon.
--Matts 11:47, 15 June 2009 (MST)I'm an ass. That friday night is the rehearsal dinner, and the wedding is Saturday, so the dragon fight might need to be after that?
--Gdaze 12:13, 15 June 2009 (MST) Ass. Anyway, what about the 19th? Ed said "maybe" gone. Also need to hear from Ben on this as well. But I don't see us needing to do a whole lot more. I need to prepare the tears, and with my 22- alch roll I think I can do that.
Ed, how "maybe" is this Friday? Ben, do you see us being able to fight the dragon?
BEN: I'm honestly not sure about the dragon. It's the greater dragon from the bestiary, which is about 1200 pts, plus his "insta-destroy" breath attack. you guys are...what, 300 pts each? Plus Lyra, who's about 150 pts more than one of you. And anyone else you can drum up. So I think it's possible. But I also think that at this point, you guys could get completely mauled as well.
I'd also like to point out that you guys have no idea where the dragon is. I think it was revealed to the characters at some point that he isn't at his old cave anymore. So before you fight him, you'll have to find him. But that should be doable inside of 1/2-1 session.
I'm perfectly fine with having people make characters this friday: I won't be able to get home before 6, though. I don't have a strong opinion how we divy up time between the session, magic, and characters.
--Gdaze 13:09, 15 June 2009 (MST) Well I figured we had the insta-kill under control with the tears. That said, I did NOT know he moved... who knew this? You jerks!
BEN: the tears won't insta kill him. they'll just turn off his breath...maybe do some damage, but the main effect is to turn off his breath. I thought we had discussed this fact during the session with Lyra Stoneheart, hope I was sufficiently clear about that.
--Gdaze -- Right, take care of US being insta-killed. I am fully aware they will not kill da dragon.
--Dieter the Bold 16:19, 15 June 2009 (MST) By Grandfather Flame's Dying Light
Edmiao gone this week. i still don't think we can kill a dragon. unless we have the insta-kill javelin and the tears and maybe the shield. i think my character would be insta killed by one punch, or one bite, or one tail slap of the dragon. or it using mind control on me. how long do you think the rest of you will last?
Edmiao I'm going to be the father of twins HOLY FUCK!!!!
JASON: Dont you mean you already are the father of twins, yet to be born? In any case CONGRATULATIONS! The world needs kids of great people like you and Cheryl. I wish you all the best.
Matts - WOW! Congratulations!!!!
--Gdaze 00:57, 17 June 2009 (MST) Now there are two of them? Awesome dude!
BEN: congratulations. Will they be named Aefra and Aedil?
--Dieter the Bold 11:22, 17 June 2009 (MST) Gratz! Fraternal or identical?
--Brandon 12:51, 17 June 2009 (MST) HOLY MIAO!!! Congratulations, Ed. That's awesome.
Edmiao thanks guys. the doc thinks fraternal, based on the ultrasound. Ben, thanks for the name ideas, just got to convince the wife......
--Dieter the Bold 17:59, 17 June 2009 (MST) You could always go with the classic Thunder and Lightening. Or go with the oriental joke and name one Bu (pronounced Booo) and the other one Ya (prounounced Yaaa). Bu and Ya Miao? You'll have to name the third one after me for all these awesome ideas.
--Gdaze 10:23, 19 June 2009 (MST) So I finally watched Dark Knight, thank you Ben for lending it to me. All I can say is, yes, I was missing out. And for me, this is one of the best, and now, most likely only, Joker I've ever seen.
Mass Effect
Other RPG or Non-RPG or Monthly Board Gaming Day gaming Events
Edmiao been playing that downloadable Titan, thanks jason. it's pretty cool, and speeds up the gameplay considerably.
JASON! What Saturday are you going to do TI? I'm interested but not with a start time later then six.
JASON: We considered doing TI this weekend, but Dieter is out. Next week I am in LA, so no can do. We will be playing some kind of game Saturday at noon or so, if enough people want TI we can just shun Dieter and laugh at his bitch ass.
--Gdaze 00:57, 17 June 2009 (MST) I agree, Dieter's ass is a bitch, or he is a bitch's ass.
EDIT --Dieter the Bold 12:47, 18 June 2009 (MST) After reviewing my time-off, I've decided I really do need a full day off, so I'll be sorta' free on Saturday. So let me know if you're actually going to do anything. I may be down.
JASON: As of now we are planning something. We could probably switch gears to TI, but currently we have discussed Dune and Shogun (the current one, which is highly regarded [1]). We would be able to get both in and still have time for BBQ. In any case, I think we are 80% likely to do something and have 5 players lined up.
Shadowrun OneShot(s) (6/26)
--Brandon 18:16, 15 June 2009 (MST) Hey y'all. I've been jonesin' for gaming in general (and want to make a character so that I can at least drop in sometimes on the Mass Effect game), but I've also been jonesin' to run another Shadowrun one-shot. It'd be a "continuation" of the last one, but without any real plot continuity, so there'd be no need to know anything about the last one-shot. Anyone interested? One possibility could be that we do it next week while Matt and Ben are rehearsing for some sort of ritualistic ceremony. Or, some other time. Just wanted to gauge interest.
--Gdaze 12:29, 16 June 2009 (MST) Pretty interested, also interested in doing a board game. Runebound is a lotta fun and I've been itching to play it. But I'm still very down for hanging out that night, I of course would suggest my place. Heck I still have yet to do a giant heroscape set up.... HMMM.
Edmiao yeah, i'm in for that next friday (6/26)
--Brandon 13:03, 17 June 2009 (MST) So, it sounds like Gabe and Ed are both down for a Shadowrun one-shot NEXT FRIDAY (6/26). DIETER, are you interested? It'd be awesome if you could play, because then there would be one person with continuity (doesn't really matter, but would be kind of nice). I'd give you dibs on playing the same guy you played last time (Max) if you wanted, 'cause I thought you played him really well. I also have another friend who is interested in playing, so we have at least 3 players, and hopefully 4. If y'all are down, I'm prepared to commit, and will post some stuff. The only possible snafu is that I'm not sure I'll have a car. So, if we do it at Gabe's, we might have to all pile in with Ed or something. Let me know what y'all think, so that I can start scheming in earnest.
To see the set-up for - and synopsis of - the last one-shot (w/ cast of characters, which will be the same except more experienced), see Guttersnipes!.
I'll post a set-up and hook for the upcoming one-shot at Guttersnipes!: Movin' On Up.
--Dieter the Bold 14:17, 17 June 2009 (MST) I'd be down again. I can barely remember it, but it sorta' comes back to me.
--Gdaze 16:27, 17 June 2009 (MST) Are any of the characters riggers? I want little bots. If not, I like that shaman guy. Or can we have a new character?
--Brandon 18:22, 17 June 2009 (MST) Sweet. Sounds good. I'll start posting some more stuff. Don't worry about remembering, Dieter. I'll post anything that you might need to know (and more). Do you want to play Max again, or switch it up?
Gabe, Reagan is (now) a rigger. He'll have at least one little bot, if not more (plus a rigged pickup truck and a motorcycle (I think). Also, I'd be happy to include a new character, if none of the available suit your fancy. But, I'd prefer if you tell me that in advance (say, by the end of the weekend) so that I can create one to suit your fancy with enough time.
Edmiao If there is space, cheryl says 20% chance she might join us for the one shot. if you want to do it on sunday afternoon that weekend, cheryl would join and we could host at our place.
--Brandon 12:05, 18 June 2009 (MST) So, if we play on Friday (6/26), Cheryl is 20%, and if we play on Sunday (6/28), Cheryl is 100%ish and we can do it at the Miao palace? I'm game for the switch, and there will definitely be space (don't worry, I won't make anyone play a quadrapalegic), but it depends on everyone else. Gabe, Dieter, what say you? And, if we play Sunday, Ben might even be able to play. Ben? I'll also talk to my friend Joe.
For now, we'll plan on Friday (6/26) at Gabe's, but see if we can move to Sunday (6/28).
--Dieter the Bold 12:48, 18 June 2009 (MST) I work Sundays. It would either have to be an evening one-shot (I could take off a little early) or I'd have to miss. I'm also down to play Max again.
--Brandon 17:02, 18 June 2009 (MST) It looks like it'll have to be Friday (6/26), because I can't do Sunday evening, and neither Dieter nor my friend Joe can do Sunday afternoon. Ed, is there still a chance Cheryl could play? 'Cause that'd be awesome. Also, was the offer to play at your house only if we played on Sunday?
Also, I finished off the synopsis of the last one shot, so take a look at at least the "Major Points of Interest" section. I'll have a hook up for this one-shot within the next few days.
Edmiao if cheryl is in, then we could have it at my place. she's been a bit tired lately, so is unsure if she would be in for a friday night thing. that might be kind of a last minute decision. but she's interested, and thought the fantasy-scifi genre mix sounded fun. she liked bens bday one shot also. so, definite maybe, i'm calling it a 20% chance she will be in.
--Gdaze 09:44, 22 June 2009 (MST) So quick note, I'd like to state that I can't play super late Sunday, of course, unlike some of you asses I work early in the morning. But Ed, do we know if Cheryl is gonna play or not? We on for Friday or what? Sorry, but I've got a lot of things going on and like having all my ducks in a row.
--Brandon 10:02, 22 June 2009 (MST) Gabe, read 4 lines up. To the best of my knowledge, we will be playing this Friday. Regardless, I don't plan to go super late (midnight at the latest, maybe?). We will plan to do it at your house unless Ed lets us know that we can do it at his house (i.e., if Cheryl decides to play, which looks like it will probably be a last minute decision, which is fine). I will have the hook for this adventure, plus updated character sheets, up tonight. I'll have an additional character ready for Cheryl, in case she decides to play. Gabe, do you still want to play Reagan (the Rigger)? Ed, do you have any preference between Togo (the shaman) and Rad (the physical adept/martial artist/breakdancer)?

Plans to save Danny-Girl from the dragon
Fight the dragon, kill it
Lyra told us where to find the freezing Tears of _____ so we can put out the dragon's breath, right before she extinguished the eternal forge flame in our temple (bitch) by sucking its soul out like a vampire. She will help us fight the dragon. In return we agreed to let her strike the killing blow IF we successfully obtain the Tears. Other allies could also be enlisted in the fight.
Deal with the dragon
Give the dragon something he wants more than Danny. Say the Ruby shield or freeing Iximion.
Dragon vs Dragon
Free Iximion, tell him Oryxis is getting up in his magic shit and doens't he want to kick the shit out of Oryxix for learning magic?
Edmiao How much xp did followers get again? was it 3 per session? and when did that start, ie how much xp should a follower have?
BEN: it started 2 sessions ago, so a follower should have 6 XP.
--Dieter the Bold 11:28, 15 June 2009 (MST) So what treacherous things did Gabe do to the rest of us once I left?
--Gdaze 11:31, 15 June 2009 (MST) I hit on a lizardwoman.
--Dieter the Bold 16:24, 15 June 2009 (MST) Par for the course, then?
--Gdaze 12:31, 16 June 2009 (MST) Her ass brother stopped me from getting anywhere. We also went back to our home island. That is pretty much it.
Question about the game, can I make a potion with those blue seeds to just find the dragon?
BEN: huh, hadn't thought of that, but it's a damn good idea. Yes, you can definitely do that.
--Gdaze 14:12, 16 June 2009 (MST) Sweet, how should I build that? Detect dragons? Or detect just him? Mega-Scale? Or maybe that crazy sight power, clear-which-a-macallit.
--Aetan Finn 14:16, 16 June 2009 (MST) An unrelated proposal: The faeries of the south are being hunted to extinction by the wood elves there, and though I bear no particular loyalty to my people, I have no wish to see genocide waged against them. With persuasion and persistence, I believe they might be convinced to take up residence in the now (mostly) vacant kingdom of Fremante. As its sole remaining protector, I would feel more comfortable were it inhabited by someone other than goblins.
Additionally, though it would not likely pay immediate dividends, a faerie people under the mountain could prove valuable as allies military or political.
I am uncertain as to a time-frame, but perhaps we can investigate the feasibility of this plan while we search for Grandfather Flame.
Fantus - No need to search... I will find him... yes just mix the seeds... have to not look up or down but in-between... Of course I'm for saving the faeries to the south, a king needs his subjects.
