This page is for discussion of stuff related to the game coming up this week, no matter when that actually is. For instance, we can all assume Nate isnt coming for some lame reason and that Ed is sick of pizza and is bringing teriyaki or some other crap. They can post something here if that happens to be untrue.

Attendance and Food Preference
ED: I am available for this friday. what about rest of you blokes?
BEN: We should try to do something next weekend, since the 18th is likely out.
--Gdaze Agreed Ben. However I am only free Friday. Even though I lost the Emperor game, I felt that neither side totally crushed the other one, it was fun.
Edmiao moved relevant sections around. If there is a consensus for saturday or sunday games instead of friday i need to know early so i can begin negotiations with the wife. but i don't want to open negotiations if i don't need to.
--Dieter the Bold 13:43, 7 December 2009 (MST) Available Friday
--Gdaze 15:21, 7 December 2009 (MST) Also if Brandon could show that'd be tight too. That way if Matt doesn't we have a good number for a one shot.
BEN: I'm available, I think, barring emergencies.
Edmiao It's always better when brandon shows!
--Matts 17:00, 7 December 2009 (MST)I think I'm available. I'll do the negotiations tonight.
--Gdaze 10:33, 9 December 2009 (MST) So Matt, whats the word?
--Matts 11:45, 9 December 2009 (MST)The day before is the PopCap game jam, which means I'll be up all night and probably in no shape to game well. I hadn't really considered what that meant, but I think I'm out. Sorry guys.
Edmiao OAAAAAA vs One shot vs Magic vs board games ???
--Gdaze 13:14, 9 December 2009 (MST) I'm down for whatever. I could run The Lonely City.
--Dieter the Bold 14:15, 9 December 2009 (MST) Down for either. Or both.
--Gdaze 16:38, 9 December 2009 (MST) I can always brng Galaxy Truckers too, assuming Dieter isn't too pussy to try the crazy ships. Anyway, someone pick soon. Cuz I'd have to get stuff ready.
Edmiao my preference would be OAAAA, but that's up to Ben. if not that, then i don't care whether one shot, board game or magic or combination of them.
BEN: I can probably GM, let me talk to Meghan tonight. I will post tonight to clarify either way.
--Dieter the Bold 10:48, 10 December 2009 (MST) I'd prefer NOT OAAAA. Since at last check Matt was the one who discovered some Big Bad had just emerged (and Matt won't be here). And I honestly haven't given OAAAA a great deal of thought since it ended and would prefer a little more time to prep myself for it.
BEN: The next time we OAAAA we would start with those "iterim stories" that I talked about way back when: essentially a series of Gemini-style card exercises meant to flesh out what each of the characters has been doing for the past 10 years. After that, I was planning on starting the campaign, since that won't take more than 2-3 hours.
all that being said, if the players don't want to OAAAA, then we probably shouldn't. Just to point out the paradox, though, that not restarting because it's been a while implies never restarting.
--Gdaze 12:26, 10 December 2009 (MST) You and your logic. So should I bring Runebound just in case? I dunno, Ben I'm not sure you would like that game. What the fuck are we doing tomorrow?
Edmiao yeah, it's like wednesday, how much time do you need to think about oaaaa before we play it? we'll get our memories refreshed on friday. i say we play oaaaaaaaa. as a rule, we can't wait to play oaaaa for matt to be there since oaaa is most likely to run when matt, the gm from the other game, bails on a session. catch 22. don't bring runebound, that game sucks more ass than your dad. cheryl likes it, though, so i was saying at our last board game night that we could play since you both like it.
--Gdaze 14:23, 10 December 2009 (MST) First of all it isn't Wednesday, ass. And Runebound rocks, even more so if you play with rules that make it go faster (loose only half of gold, rounded up, when in a market step you draw two cards and discard one, next time we are also going to play with 2 starting gold). I can always bring Galaxy Truckers as well.
--Dieter the Bold 14:28, 10 December 2009 (MST) OAAA it is then.
Edmiao those mods might help the game. i found it terribly unbalanced the way it is written, get unlucky, and you are permanently screwed and the game takes hours to finish. also the market is unbalanced, some items make you rule the game others aren't worth dirt, the costs of items were just really unbalanced.
--Gdaze 15:27, 10 December 2009 (MST) Well yes, the game DOES need to be mod'd for quicker play, and to make it not so bad if you get killed once. We also play with rules that after certain amount of advanes you get a free health level up, this forces you to stop farming lower EXP encounters. And yes, some items are pretty shitty. And aren't worth it. I have added a good amount of items but we are actually going to take some of those out. As there is this one banner that is just way too good.
--Gdaze 15:37, 10 December 2009 (MST) ALSO. If it starts snowing, and sticking, I will have to head home.
Edmiao yeah, so with significant modifications the game can be ok. but why not play puerto rico instead, that game rox. regardless, we are playing oaaaaaa on friday, so the discussion is moot.
--Gdaze 16:41, 10 December 2009 (MST) Because I like to slay monsters and get treasure. I'll moot you! Puerto Rico is lots of fun too though. Maybe I'll ask my family for some games this Christmas.
--Brandon 17:59, 10 December 2009 (MST) Y'all are too nice, but I should be clear that I cannot be involved in any of your shenanigans this weekend.
Quote(s) of the week
Elemental: (to police chief, who thanked them for their good work) That certainly isn't going to help Viho's colossal ego. (or something like that...)
CyberJesus: I'm so sick and tired of this bullshit Thomas Kinkaid police state!
Ashbury: I grow plants that may or may not be used for pharmaceutical purposes
Ed/Aefra: "I use Seduction on the baby"
"Galen, you're wearing a dress." "Yes, but I still look better in it than in you do in your clothes."
Ranting and Raving
JASON: Hey Gabe, do you still want that Alternity stuff? Also, do you play Heroscape still? I got a bunch of unused boxes of it Ill sell for like half price. Its two different master sets and two expansions.
--Gdaze 14:10, 4 December 2009 (MST) Yes on both! Sorry, as you know, stuff got all crazy for me. Would it be possible for me to do this next weekend? Which Master Sets are they exactly and which expansions?
JASON: Its Rise of the Valkyrie and Swarm of the Marro, plus 2 copies of The Conflict Begins. How about $75 for it all (and whatever we decided for the Alternity)? I can meet this weekend, And, IM AN IDIOT...DRRRR
--Gdaze 15:00, 4 December 2009 (MST) Totally got yourself a deal. I will see if I can do it Sunday, or maybe mid-week next week? I've actually been wanting a Conflict Begins, and will totally take two. I will totally do a lot of stuff. *waits for your mom jokes*
JASON: Im available whenever, just let me know what works.
JASON: To anyone who likes magic cards. Or who hates magic cards and likes to punish themselves. I am going to be putting an ad on craigslist to sell batches 10,000 magic cards for $100. It will be approximately equal parts of each color and artifacts, with some special lands and 200 rares (no more than 4 of any rare). If any of you jokers would want one or more, you could come and actually pick out the cards you want from my available stuff. Let me know if interested.
--Gdaze 11:24, 8 December 2009 (MST)I may be interested in this. However I wouldn't want to pick out any... too crazy. Long as I get a good mix. But not SURE I am down for this. Also Jason Thursday is looking like the day to meet up.
Edmiaothat's really tempting. if i hadn't just bought a new camera i'd be all over that.
--Gdaze 10:34, 9 December 2009 (MST) So about tomorrow Jason, what time do you want to meet up to exchange the goods? As of now just interested in the Heroscape, and maybe the Alternity books.
JASON: I am pretty much free, so its up to you.
JASON: Hey Ed, if I apply for this: http://systemsbiology.hrmdirect.com/employment/view.php?req=45559& can you give me a recommendation?
--Gdaze 16:39, 9 December 2009 (MST) Alright, um... lets meet after I get off work. Problem is I get out a bit late tomorrow. Want to meet in Bellevue at 7? I was gonna suggest TRU parking lot as it is a bit easier to manage during the season.
JASON: Parking in Bellevue is really lame. If I am coming over there we should meet somewhere away from downtown I think, like maybe on Bellevue Way. Either that or by where that Jimmy Johns is. Sandwiches. Mmm
BEN: there are cards I want to buy from Jason, so MAYBE it makes sense for us all to meet up at a convenient time at my place. If the stars allign and we can find a time to do that.
--Gdaze 12:25, 10 December 2009 (MST) Yes, parking in Bellevue is lame, although often free. The only Jimmy John's I know of closes early here and is in downtown Bellevue. I can also meet on Saturday, even stop by your place as I'll be in Seattle that day. Want me to just stop by Saturday?
And Jason! My company is mad hiring, you should check it out.
JASON: There are two Jimmy Johns in Bellevue, one about a block from your building inside a high rise, and another 4 blocks or so away in a small development with a large, free parking lot. Thats the one that makes sense. As for hiring, I will work there. Do you get a bonus if they hire me? If so, I can email you my resume or whatever. Im checking the openings now. Any suggestions for how I should go about this?
--Gdaze 13:04, 10 December 2009 (MST) I had no idea about that other one... You sure you don't just want me to stop by Saturday? I'll be in Seattle. I think I do, you can certainly put me as a reference. I'm a New Business Representative in Immdidate Annuities, although spelled correctly. I'll look into what I have to do.
JASON: You can come Saturday if you want, thats fine. I applied for a bunch of jobs, do your magic. Maybe email HR or something and ask them how you do a referral.
Edmiao too bad that ISB job was an internal hire, i could have used the referral bonus for xmas! heck i would have bought magic cards from you with it! are we interested in going in joint to get a stack of cards from jason, or is our collection pretty much sufficient?
BEN: I'm planning on buying a bunch of valuable cards from jason, if he will ever come by my place. So I'm not really interested in buying a big stack of random stuff, I'd rather blow money on cards i know I will use. I am watching dakota on saturday from like 2pm until late into the night, but I assume he is gaming then...but I may be able to host some sort of activity sat. night if there is interest after D goes to bed (ca. 9pm?)
--Gdaze 14:15, 10 December 2009 (MST) I like big stacks of random cards (Jason I still might buy, but not this trip). Kinda like diving into your mom. Yeah I'll stop by Saturday. Ben, what if you give me the money and I grab the cards Saturday?
BEN: nah, I still gotta go through his money rares and look for any of those that I might want.
TO REITERATE: I should be available post 9pm saturday for anyone who wants to swing by...Jason might be down so we could board game it up.
Kingmakers
Current XP as of 12/5 session: 3500
BEN: that was a good session today...lots of fun, even if my character nearly got killed again. nice emperor battle too.
--Gdaze 10:15, 7 December 2009 (MST) Funny you should say that, I was about to post the same! I really enjoyed the RPs, a good mix of serous play and down right goofy (although very effective...). I think my favorite part is when Ben Hans went and punched out the noble in a cafe, and Elf Hans started a food fight. Okay actually that whole thing was great. Showing up as the "bandit king" was great.
Of Amor, Armor, and Alchemy
Current OAAAA XP: 75 base + 352 XP; Followers: 15 XP (current as of 8/7/09)
ED: How long did you say the interim was between act 2 and 3 again, ben? 10 years would be great, time to fit a lot of goings on.
BEN: 10 years is correct. Some things for the next session of OAAAA:
1.) Everybody will get to spend their bonus "interim" XP as they please, I've changed my mind about forcing expenditures in a certain way.
2.) I want everyone to think about their interim adventures. At the start of the nextsession, I amthinking we may do Gemini style card "prologues" in which we explore people's adventures: the person we are doing it for presents the overall theme/happenings, and then we run through it, with the group contributing details. Group bonus XP will be assigned based on cool story effects people come up with in these. If this idea seems too complex or seems like it will give other players too much involvement in your interim events,we can can it and just let each person do a narrative, in character or out.
3.) I will clarify happenings in the world at the first session of book 3.
ED: Sounds fun. I wrote up a bunch of ideas, i think there's plenty of room for adventures in between the paragraphs. Brandon, what is your email so i can send you the Tithe sheet. I may not have done a great job on him, he was pretty low on the damage potential, but still could take hits quite well. you may want to remod him, i'm sure ben would be fine with that. although i really think you should keep the pegasus, since it played a major role in the fight with the dragon. Let you fly and catch Aeten, bring him back to the battle and Aeten immediately thereafter struck the killing blow.
--Brandon 20:53, 9 August 2009 (MST) Sweet. A pegasus sounds awesome, and I was totally thinking about getting a mount for Tithe anyway, so that's perfect. I'm glad that Tithe played a solid role. My e-mail is olsenb3 [at] u.washington.edu. I would appreciate a full recap at some point, if someone has the time. Gratz, y'all!!
--Dieter the Bold 15:41, 13 August 2009 (MST) I think such a prologue adventure thing would be awesome. I heartily approve. Also, I personally would like a little GM wild-card in how points get spent, but that's just me. Ben, do you have the time/interest to do that with Galen?
BEN: sure...or rather, if you want you can use your prologue adventure thing to drive your xp expenditure. Or I'm happy to take as heavy of a hand as you want. Also, if we do this, the player who was "on the spot" would have full veto power over any card played: this may sound like a cop-out, but the point is to generate a backstory for those 10 years that appeals to the given player, and that trumps. I don't anticipate this being a problem, but it's easier to enforce than a "don't be a dick" policy. Also, any given player can just opt-out and write/come up with his own background for that time.
--Gdaze 13:48, 16 September 2009 (MST) So is that exp at the top, all the exp we have? Or am I missing the extra bit for the last 10 years? Also, Ben, should I email you with what my guy has been up to? Or are we doing this card thing?
