Thitaris Thalen

Lieutenant, Junior Grade Thitaris Thalen is the social sciences officer on the USS Niven. Growing up in an insular family, on an isolated farmstead in one of the coldest regions of Andor, Thalen devoted himself to books. His parents had both kept their college texts and they kindled and interest in anthropology and archaeology. The family had hoped he would stay and work on the family lands but his eyes were on the stars, and when he was accepted into Starfleet Academy he had no question in his mind. Unlike many country children he has never missed his homestead, nor has he been back.

Since graduating this is his second tour, and first as a nominal department head. He enjoys the autonomy of the small department, but longs for the thrill of discovery that comes with exploration. During the mission to Psellus he showed his exuberance by leaping from the shuttle onto the zigguraut while under heavy fire from the Klingons.
