Dieter ... XCOM: Gray Dawn

The suave and totally not cloned Douglas Wilson.

Douglas Wilson

Douglas Wilson is the eldest child of Steve and Lorelei Wilson. At the beginning of XCOM: Gray Dawn (January, 2014), Doug was 38 years old, born in 1975. He enlisted in the Army out of high school, and re-enlisted several times. His military career path was a JSOC drone pilot.

End of Military Service

Douglas was performing drone operations in Afghanistan in 2006 along the southern border with Pakistan. While operating from a remote station, he received orders to support a CIA mission in scouting a remote tribal territory deep inside Pakistan. Douglas picked up odd sensor readings of some kind of base shortly before his own operating station was attacked and his command and control trailer was destroyed, nearly killing him. This sortie had been ordered by Project Covenant personnel embedded in the CIA, and the base was a Red Hand operation. The last thing Doug saw was a man in power armor emerge from one of the bunkers. The man raised a weapon and fired one shot toward the horizon from an unknown weapon. A few seconds later, a hypervelocity warhead slammed into Doug's trailer several miles away.

Captivity and Experimentation

Initially processing Douglas as normal, Vladimir Gurov discovered that Douglas possessed a high ESP potential. Being one of the few genetic aspects that remained beyond his grasp, Gurov immediately began intense medical experimentation to try and unlock the secrets of Douglas' mind. Failing to find the answers he sought after several years, Gurov woke Douglas up and forced him into a series of brutal exercises. Torture, really. While progress was made, it still wasn't enough for Gurov's satisfaction. Deciding to take a more collaborative approach, Gurov finally met Douglas in person and explained the situation, eventually winning Douglas' cooperation in trying to unlock his full psychic potential.

Return to the World

Finally returned to Elma after his clone, Doug, snapped from excessive mental contact with alien technology and flaws in the cloning and memory replacement process. Douglas hopes to reconnect with his sister, Fayth, and do his part in countering the alien menace.
