This page is for discussion of stuff related to the game coming up this week, no matter when that actually is. For instance, we can all assume Nate isnt coming for some lame reason and that Ed is sick of pizza and is bringing teriyaki or some other crap. They can post something here if that happens to be untrue.

Monthly Board Gaming Day

Dark Knight I've just purchased tickets for myself and kim for SATURDAY, JULY 19th at 9 PM at the seattle IMAX. Anyone else who wants to come see THE superhero movie with us on THE big screen, feel free.

KIM: Count Mark and April in! I'll cover their tix.

JASON: I got tickets for the midnight opening at the Cinerama. I am also considering hitting the IMAX with you guys.

JULY 4th

--Dieter the Bold 13:02, 16 June 2008 (MST) Gentlemen, and lady: It's finally dawned on me that in 3 weeks it will be the 4th of July. On a Friday, no less. I think, given the date, we should be a little more proactive in determining our whereabouts. I already see Ed has declared himself busy. Is anyone else planning on crazy BBQs, late night fireworks, etc., etc.? If so, speak soon, because for those who plan on attending gaming, I'd like to put out the idea of doing a Patriot Themed One-shot or series of One-shots. Are we your average Joes caught up in a time-warp, leading us to fight in our countries greatest battles? Are the Brood invading and we must use our amazing super powers to defend Earth? Or have we accepted a race for charity with people making donations to the hero that can traverse the world the fastest (but some of our arch-nemesis have other plans?)? Regardless, as the 4th is a federally recognized holiday, and we therefore get the opportunity to take off work, I vote we have a gaming day + BBQ, and then leave the night open for more gaming or for fireworks or whatever. I look forward to your responses.

KIM: I too vote for festivities, and will bake cherry pies or other such traditional yums on request (and if you say please). BBQ is good, if heroes, count me as present, if one-shots are to be had instead, I might have a couple friends over for boardgames in the other half of the communal area. Also, isn't the other side of midnight Matt's bday?

--Matts 16:17, 16 June 2008 (MST)I'm not sure if I'm in town or not yet. I may be off having a cabin adventure. Regardless, sometime in proximity we'll party for my big day. It's only once a decade that the digits in your age add up to 10!

--Edmiao 16:40, 16 June 2008 (MST) damn, sound like fun. parents in town. so no me.

--Dieter the Bold 20:01, 19 June 2008 (MST) I hearby make the official motion to cancel gaming on July the 4th. I introduce a second motion that we hold a BBQ, movie, boardgaming day in its place. Movies to be of the classic patriotic kind. Patton, comes to mind.

JASON: If this materializes I would like to say I am 66% on attending, as well as bringing along a sidekick, some board games and possibly even some patriotic movies.

GABE: Dude, the Patriot! Nothing is better then spearing a British officer with the American flag! What is your sidekick's power or powers?

JASON: She has the power to speak Japanese and use Photoshop CS on the mac. Dont be a hater, thems some serious powers yo.

GABE: Man..., I can barely speak English and have the ability to burp after eatting even the most least gasiest of foods. My powers blow.

KIM: I'm a fan of the boardgame-bbq... may be inviting some vanilla friends to play teh scrabblez wit me, unless ya'll are down with the Kung-fu Munchkin.

JASON: Teh Scrabblez? D00d, wiik. At the very least we should play Cranium. Ill bring it. Thats a rad party game.

KIM: ooooooooooooooooooooh, CRANIUM. There's gotta be a way to make it a drinking game, no?

GABE: Man, Matt, The Authority is an awesome comic. Are these two books all there is?

--Matts 10:22, 23 June 2008 (MST)There's a ton of offshoots, like Jenny Sparks Secret History of the Authority, and I'm pretty sure there's tons of shit with Jack Hawksmoor and the Midnighter and the old Stormwatch gang, but I'm not sure how much of it is written by Warren Ellis, who did those first two books.

JASON: Let it hitherto be known that Rumi has purchased Rock Band for the wii, and if there is interest we will bring it on the 4th. What say you, gents? Also, we plan on making some shish kabobs as well.

--Gdaze 22:45, 24 June 2008 (MST) Nice, but I'm gonna bet that I will SUCK at that game, I'm terrible with beats. I know, white man bad with beats, whats this world coming to?

Hey Dieter, go check out Eve Online. They are having a 14 day free trail. Its actually pretty fun, I find it relaxing just flying around and mining shit. Or anyone else who is intersted, which I'm guessing ain't much!

BEN: A complication has arisen for the 4th. I have to have all the shit for my deck delivered on the 5th (assuming home despot works that day) so that the tile guys can start on the 7th. That means that I have to have the leveling compound down by the 5th, so I can cart all the crap up from the curb (where they will deliver something like 2.5 tons of stone plus another 1000 pounds of other shit) and put it on the deck. Since I'm gone this weekend, it is fairly likely that I will be doing a lot of said leveling on Friday the 4th. Obviously, this doesn't interfere with boardgaming etc, but it will put the kai bosh on grilling on the deck itself (depending on how much of it I need to do that day, I suppose). More as the situation develops.

JASON: I am willing to help you do some work on the 4th. I could use some physical labor. One thing is, if the deck will be unavailable, maybe we can use mine instead, if others dont object? Also, Gabe, Im terrible at Rock Band too. Even songs I can actually play on the real instruments somehow escape me so far...hehe

--Dieter the Bold 10:08, 25 June 2008 (MST) I'd vote moving it to Jason's. And the Wii actually has Rock Band? With all 4 instruments? I'll do anything but singing. It's hella fun.

JASON: It just came out like 3 days ago or something. We have only 3 instruments, but if the Guitar Hero guitars are compatible, it might be easy to have a 4th.

--Gdaze -- Thats pretty cool that the Guitar Hero guitars are compatible with Rock Band.

Dieter, you take a look at Eve Online yet? Take a gander and let me know what you think.

RUMI: Wiik. Apparently the Guitar Hero controllers are NOT compatible with Rock Band. :( Also, in regards to moving the festivities, we have a (semi) awesome view of the Space Needle! It's probably pretty cool for fireworks! :)

--Dieter the Bold 16:27, 25 June 2008 (MST) Very wiik. The Wii is awesome in some things, but an absolute travesty in others. And I'll check out EvE Online tonight, Gabe.

--Dieter the Bold 14:04, 26 June 2008 (MST) Opportunity for free beer and pizza in return for 1 to 2 hours of heavy lifting on Saturday, July 5th. A friend at work needs some furniture moved. She estimates no more than 2 hours and anytime before 5pm is fine. She'll be happy to then spring for pizza and a pitcher of beer afterwards.

Weekly Magic Whining/Complaining/Smack Talking

BEN: Got a nice set of lorwyn, morningtide, and shadowmoor. Probably 600 commons/uncommons, 2 planeswalkers (red and white, at the low price of $3ea), and 14 other rares. Should have probably gotten a few more rares, but my haggling skills suck and I was trying to be nice (paid $1 per rare). Anyways, I didn't edit the commons/uncommons, but for the rares, I didn't get anything for control decks cause I hate them, and I didn't get anything for the elf deck, cause he had some gross rares for that deck. But I did get a bunch of elemental rares so we can finally have an elemental deck or two (including another horde of notions, 3 smokebraiders, and 4+ flamewalker invokers!)

KIM: I reckon this feat deserves a "w00t".

--Edmiao 13:52, 22 June 2008 (MST)woot. i remade my green red deck. might need a few artifacts to finish it out, but mostly good to go.

--Matts 10:39, 25 June 2008 (MST)You didn't get a Reaper King, did you?

BEN: nope...he didn't have one, i would have gotten it if he did. Like I said, i should have taken 10 or so more rares for what I paid, but we did get lots of quite valuable uncommons, so I guess its all good.

--Dieter the Bold 17:31, 26 June 2008 (MST) Just an FYI that I'll be working a little late, then helping a friend pick up and assemble a bed from Ikea. So don't count on me for any Magic.

--Matts 11:58, 27 June 2008 (MST)Came in to work late, on the way I got some more boosters and some SECRET cards. In the boosters were a wort raidmother, swans of bryn argoll, and some kind of red do a bunch of damage card. Lots of fun uncommons too.

The Next Step in Werewolf

Werewolf Recap

Next step in Super Heroes

--Brandon 15:35, 23 June 2008 (MST) Gabe, I'll send you an e-mail, but is some night this week good for you to get together? We could finish off BrimStone and maybe even play some Magic. I'm thinking Thursday looks best at the moment, but am pretty flexible.

--Edmiao 16:21, 23 June 2008 (MST) i'd be interested in some magic this week sometime. gots to try out my revised deck to see if it still sucks nuts, and i'll be gone for the next two weeks straight! and i have the red and green card boxes that y'all might want.

--Matts 16:48, 23 June 2008 (MST)I pilfered your Oona and something else from your faeries deck. They're in a blue-black mill deck.

BEN: Kim's out of town from late tuesday night until next monday, so sturmfreie bude, as the germans say. I'd be happy to host a bit o' magickin' wed. or thurs. night.

ED: groov. shall we say thursday? what time?

--Gdaze 22:13, 23 June 2008 (MST) Sure, I can do it Thursday, not too late as we have gaming the next day! And yeah, time? Most likely I'll just head over after work.

--Brandon 23:08, 23 June 2008 (MST) Thursday sounds boss. I'll see you all there. I don't really care what time, though I echo Gabe in not wanting to be out too late (I have to teach Friday, and I'll have assignments to grade Thursday night. What fun!).

--Gdaze-- You guys should make some decks like, only one mana. Lets try something new!

Brandon! Should Brim be able to take others with him to the fire realm? Also I was thinking of giving your guy teleportation gates to help transport the group in a cool style. That and after reading the Authority gates are just cool.

--Brandon 09:04, 24 June 2008 (MST) Gabe! I was working with the assumption that he cannot take others with him. I think that might make some things too easy (Hello evil bad guy! You're kinda tough! Instead of taking you out, how about I just teleport you to Brim and let you burn to death slowly while stuck in another dimension? Buh-bye!), and I kind of like the fact that he has this escapist/isolationist option, but only if he goes it completely alone. I could maybe be convinced otherwise, though.

--Edmiao 09:06, 24 June 2008 (MST)the way powers work in Hero, you have two options: usable on other (willing target) and usable as attack (unwilling target). you could have a slow teleport gate where you have to concentrate very hard to use it on other people.

--Matts 09:32, 24 June 2008 (MST)Brandon, if you don't want to teleport other people, that's fine. If the group feels it needs some kind of teleport option, we can just work it into Viho's base or some other mechanism.

--Edmiao 10:12, 24 June 2008 (MST) I didn't want to pressure you into teleport other, just bringing up the options. i think we can all probably get around just fine.

--Brandon 10:25, 24 June 2008 (MST) I think I'm going to stay away from teleport other at the moment, for various reasons. For one, I think that it might be too convenient if we can all teleport wherever we want, at least at the beginning. I'll keep it on my radar for character advancement, though.

--Gdaze-- Cool cool, the "gates" actually wouldn't go to the fire world, just a way to get around the world. We could even do fixed locations, as in you could only gate to certain places, m'eh, just an idea. Your teleport power as it stands allows you to get all over the battlefield, it only costs you 1/2 the normal END.

--Gdaze-- Um so where and what time are we meeting?
