--Dieter the Bold 11:46, 4 September 2008 (MST) Alright lads. We're gamers, so we're lazy by definition. I am lazier than most. But Halloween is a holiday I always feel bad about for not coming up with an awesome costume. I hereby forward the motion that we make that session a costumed session. Two months to come up with something awesome and wear it to the session. Bonus points to be awarded for those who come as their characters.
--Gdaze 11:00, 5 September 2008 (MST) I'm pretty sure I will be busy on said day. If I'm not, I will come in costume... but one it is over 2 months away so I have no idea, and two, yeah, typically I got out on that holiday.
BEN: as far as halloween goes, and as long as we've opened the can of worms that is switching sessions from friday to saturday or vice versa, the 31st of october may be an ideal candidate for saturday, as opposed to friday, gaming. Either way, I still think people should come dressed as their characters.

cheryl is going away for two weeks to learn how to use a sequencing machine. so I'm hoping for magic in the evenings 10/14-23 and hopefully a magic or board game event on the 19th or 20th? anyone, anyone?
Weekly Magic Whining/Complaining/Smack Talking
BEN: some highlights from my weekend of magic:
1.) I draw 5 lands, some piece of crap, and a hellkite overlord. He draws one land and a bunch of good cards. we both keep. I play out a bunch of lands, he plays his one and gets stuck for 2 or 3 turns. Come turn 8, I play hellkite as one of two nonland permanents in play. He immediately scoops.
2.) He is at 24. I am at 16. He is solidly drubbing me. He plays "ad nauseam" which lets you draw cards, but you pay each cards converted mana cost in life. You can keep doing it as many times as you want. He draws a boatload of cards, and drops to 5 (!) life. He forgets to attack with his 2/2 lifelinker, and forgets that it doesn't have flying because he has no artifacts in his graveyard or in all the cards he drew. I attack with my 2/2 flyer, giant growth it, and he dies.
3.) next game, same opponent. I get him to 7 life. He needs a way to kill my 5/5 dragon. He plays ad nauseam again. He drops to 3 life but gets an answer. Now he needs a forest. He uses his ad nauseam again, and flips a 5 cost card. He dies. Hee-larious.
4.) I scored 32 rares this weekend (unfortunately, they didn't come cheap...), including a playset of Ajani Vengeant. I'm gonna keep them separate for now to see which ones actually end up being valuable. My favorite one was a foil Rafiq of the Many that I had to buy off a guy for $8.00...not cheap, but I really wanted that card in foil.
JASON: I am going to be doing that crappy con at Totem Lake mall on Saturday, you guys should come check out my cards. I have about 1300 rares at 50 cents each, as well as the higher end stuff (about 800 of those). I also have 4000 uncommons at 25 cents each. Gabe, bring those dual lands and I will buy them from you! Also, Dieter if you want to trade your Dual lands I will give you tons of playable stuff for them. Or you can just come and heckle me.
GABE: You crafty dealer! Ah they still have the Totem Lake Mall events? That mall is so empty besides those, haha. What time till what time? I got some friends coming over that day.
EdmiaoI went to your magic shop yesterday, ben. evil. the 50 cent rares box is awesome, i had a stack that i wanted that was an inch thick, but i whittled it down to 22 cards. i think a steal for 50 cents, given that normally a pack is two fiddy or more, and at least a fifth of the cost is the rare in it. got a set of the Nephlims, (4 color creatures), and a bunch of other gold cards, cus i love gold cards. passed up a sengir vampire, which on reflection, i think i will go back and get today. was also tempted to get a gabriel angelfire, but dumped it because the picture sucks (and it costs 7 to cast). turns out most of the cards were worth 50 cents on mtg fanatic, but some were a dollar or two. also got two more icy manipulators, a high demand card in our group.

Edmiao not sure if they were all that great of creatures, but i just love the fact that its for color mana and that there is a set of them.
JASON: Come buy the Sengirs from me, I have a million of them! The show is from 10-3 or so. I also have a Mystic Snake Ed...

JASON: I think Mystic Snake is $2. I price using findmagiccards.com. I look at what the net is selling them for and put them near the lowest price rounded to the nearest dollar. Sometimes I bump up or down if I like a card and want to play it or think its overpriced.

--Brandon 12:37, 21 September 2008 (MST) I just want to say that that last battle had a lot of great moments. Silver Snake being thrown into the air and then transforming and swinging back down in mid air; Ashbury flying above the crowd of teenagers and releasing pollen everywhere; Elemental taunting Zeus, and then not budging when the counterattack came; Brimstone walking with Silver Snake as armor, dragging a line of fire through the air, and then teleporting inside of Zeus's shield. Good times, all.

GABE: Question. I was looking at attunement, and so if we put that on one of our items it is still a focus right, not independent?
Also the five point limit, is that active points or real cost?
BEN: it does NOT become independent. HOWEVER: if you lose the item, you get the points back (therefore not independent), but you do not just get to replace your attuned item. You can respend the points on other equipment, or respend it to attune a new item (5 pts/session limit still applies), but you don't just get your full attuned item back when you could replace a "normal" item: an attuned item is "unique", just like the special drops off big bad guyes, you just don't get the "GM special" discount, because you can tune the item's power as you like. You can also "sell back" attuned items just like any other equipment, though the "only use the points for new equipment, not stats or skills or powers" limitation applies just like for other equipment you sell back. The five points/session is meant to be an active point limit: Also, if you started spending this session: you could spend 5 pts, not 25 pts, even though it is session 5: you can spend 5 pts per session, and this limit doesn't add up if you didn't spend some points the previous session.
