This page is for discussion of stuff related to the game coming up this week, no matter when that actually is. For instance, we can all assume Nate isnt coming for some lame reason and that Ed is sick of pizza and is bringing teriyaki or some other crap. They can post something here if that happens to be untrue.

Attendance and Food Preference
Are we playing this week? It looks like we are staring down two absences again.
Quote(s) of the week
Elemental: (to police chief, who thanked them for their good work) That certainly isn't going to help Viho's colossal ego. (or something like that...)
CyberJesus: I'm so sick and tired of this bullshit Thomas Kinkaid police state!
Ashbury: I grow plants that may or may not be used for pharmaceutical purposes
Ed/Aefra: "I use Seduction on the baby"
"Galen, you're wearing a dress." "Yes, but I still look better in it than in you do in your clothes."
Ranting and Raving
Mass Effect
--Gdaze--Alright then my offical proposal is for Mass Effect. Keeping the pirate stuff ready for one shots. Is everyone okay with this? Are all players on board?
--Dieter the Bold 16:25, 5 June 2009 (MST) No arguments against Mass Effect universe. What game system are we using? What kind of campaign (colonists, survey/mining!!!, military, corporate)? Those are more important to me than what universe (pretty much).
Edmiao hook and game feel are most important for designing a campaign appropriate character.
GABE: I'm going to present some hooks, and I'd like the players to say which ONE they most like and which one they DON'T want to play. This is much as the player's game as it is mine.
I believe we will STILL use the WH40K system.
--Dieter the Bold 12:19, 6 June 2009 (MST) I'd like Smuggler most followed by Citadel. Least of all would be Specter/Shadow Ops.
GABE: Smuggler was actually a joke... After two games of that I was pretty sure we didn't want to do that, plus an entire game built around it is hard.
Edmiao Interested in Citadel because it would/could be sci fi minus the space ships, seems that the citadel is huge also, so you have lots of possible sci-fi other worlds possible, but contained on the citadel. i've frequently found our space combat systems to be rather hap hazard, and also it alleviates the "Captain, Navigator, Engineer" paradigms which i despise. "Artifact" Dealers - totally interested in this, in fact, i made a character specific to this game type previously..... unfortunately none of the other characters/players were interested...so meh. Shadow ops - meh. Spectres - meh. Bounty Hunters - i love Cowboy Beebop this could give a kind of episodic game type, but you could have some underlying plots...like cowboy beebop; easy hook, risks lack of depth. Noveria Secuity Detail - could be interesting, lots of possibilities in there for high tech, aliens, ancient powers..... Pirates - meh. Smuggler - NOOOOOOOoooooooooo!
--Gdaze 12:43, 7 June 2009 (MST) Yay, input! Alright so just need Ben and Matt to chime in. Yes, I was a bit worried about space combat as well. However after reading about how space combat works on the wiki, it is quite hard to actually have a full on battle. If one side starts to loose they just jump, and at that point it is impossible to catch them or track them. So most space combat happens at key points.
Also just so you know, Artifcat Dealers would be about selling them, nothing to do with ancient religions or anything like that... (because there is actually a religion in the game that thinks the Protien (sp?) tech is all holy and should belong to everyone...)
Matts - I like Artifact Dealer, I like Smuggler assuming the authority structure is well defined. I'm down with Bounty Hunters too, but not as much. Citadel seems to me to defeat the whole purpose of the space genre, but hell, I'm ok with that too.
--Gdaze-- Matt, is there any one of the options you most certainly don't want to play? I hate to say this guys, but please do not count too much on Smuggler. Or if anything, it will not be the main focus, maybe something people do on the side? I suppose in a way Artifcat Dealer and Smuggler kinda could go hand in hand, eh?
Well we are Sci-Fi, not just space. Citadel is its own world, with crime and what not (as seen in the game where you have a freaking shoot-out at a bar). Of course, if your on Citadel... there still needs to be a focus.
--Dieter the Bold 10:07, 8 June 2009 (MST) Smugglers or I'm not playing!!
Bwahahahha.... I kid of course. I'm down with Artifact Dealers. Seems like a solid baseline to tie everyone in together. Gabe, would you mind if I had a sideline smuggling operation going? One man, maybe? And Matt, I think it could work if we're doing stuff on the Citadel and then jaunt off-world every now and again to personally take care of something big.
Edmiao do we want to have our own ship, Serenity style, again? This is how the game ran with Space Opera and Gemini, small ship crewed by the characters. Is this a pre-requisite to a Sci-Fi game for folks?
GABE: You're funny Dieter, thats why I'll kill you last. Yes, I think smuggling would work fine with a lot of the options, bounty hunters, artifcat dealers, your guy wants to smuggle shit on the side? Totally fine. While having main goals for the whole group, individual player goals are also important... but. I will not allow a player to derail the entire group for his goals. He can get them in trouble, yes, but no hostage taking. ("Oh yeah? Well we are going here otherwise forget you all!") Don't want it in the game, so don't plan on making a character who will at the drop of a hat always go out and do his own thing.
And yes, own ship is fine. Or could even make the first few adventures you all getting the ship.
Matts - I guess I just didn't really like the Citadel in the video game; those were the parts that dragged the most. Leave it to Bioware to make a space station that big and then make it feel like hicktown USA. I suppose that the setting can be appropriately expanded.
But I like space ships. Especially after Star Trek. So I like options with space ships more.
GABE: I also fealt the Citadell wasn't treated very well for what seemed really cool at first. Yes, I think a spaceship is needed.
Um as anyone noticed that since we linked to their wiki on our main page we've been hit really hard with spammers?
--Dieter the Bold 14:27, 8 June 2009 (MST) Spam does seem to be up. And I can certainly understand reluctance to play on the Citadel based on the game, but I think space stations make excellent bases. Here's a fun thought: We all run an Import/Export business together specializing in rare artifacts and the like. But each of us has our own particular take on it. I'm more into the less legal side of things, Matt's all about making the spaceship runs to pick things up/drop off/escort. Ed like's to import criminals for great justice. Etc., etc. The business is the tie that holds us all together (along with other more personal backstories, so we're not just in it for the money), but we each have our own intertwining interests. If people don't mind stories being somewhat coincidental (oh, that criminal you're hunting seems to be hiding on the planet where someone says they have a rare artifact for sale and also has a burgeoning black market) and Gabe can handle denser plots, then I think it's something that could really work.
Edmiao sounds like gemini.
--Gdaze-- I'm not running a game where five character's have a different take on a business. It sounds nice but I know how we play, there will be, and needs to be, a stronger group goal. Having each person always trying to do one thing that is different then each other player is just not going to work. As Ed said above.
Other RPG or Non-RPG or Monthly Board Gaming Day gaming Events
--Dieter the Bold 12:59, 4 June 2009 (MST) Awesome fun with BSG: The Boardgame last night. Frakking Toasters managed to get us right before the end. I'm down for Twilight Imperium Friday night.
Edmiao been playing that downloadable Titan, thanks jason. it's pretty cool, and speeds up the gameplay considerably.

Plans to save Danny-Girl from the dragon
Fight the dragon, kill it
Lyra told us where to find the freezing Tears of _____ so we can put out the dragon's breath, right before she extinguished the eternal forge flame in our temple (bitch) by sucking its soul out like a vampire. She will help us fight the dragon. In return we agreed to let her strike the killing blow IF we successfully obtain the Tears. Other allies could also be enlisted in the fight.
Swindle all around
Talk to Grundbad, get him to fight the dragon and kill it. Also, talk to Oryxis, pledge to deliver the ruby shield in return he frees Danny-girl. Dragon dies: Danny free. Grundbad dies, danny free. Win - Win.
Deal with the dragon
Give the dragon something he wants more than Danny. Say the Ruby shield or freeing Iximion.
Dragon vs Dragon
Free Iximion, tell him Oryxis is getting up in his magic shit and doens't he want to kick the shit out of Oryxix for learning magic?
