Body, Mind and Spirit are Primary Characteristics. They are assigned a value from 1-5. These are the number of dice that are rolled along with the skill dice when success is determined as long as the secondary (or derived) characteristic inside the cascade is associated with the skill. A player may also expend a characteristic point (token) to add the number of dice equal to the secondary (or derived) characteristic value in dice to the pool for this action. When a token is used, place a check mark in the token box for that characteristic.

Once a character has expended all of the boxes in any characteristic pool they gain one level of fatigue. This reduces the active level of each primary characteristic by the number of fatigue levels. Any primary characteristic which is reduced to zero active level cannot expend tokens to add to any secondary or derived characteristic. Bead costs to increase characteristics within the cascade are also doubled.
