Savage Worlds is a game system written by Shane Lacy Hensley based on his earlier Deadlands. Its popular, easy and fast. I dont like everything they did, in many ways they removed the soul of Deadlands, took some of what made it good and dumbed it down. Its not a lost cause, however.

Usage

Before I go dismissing it I think I need to try it out in a game or two. It could be a good fit for HP Lovecraft's American War of Independence, or at least worth trying. It also might work for XCom Seattle. I have also been really interested in The Morrow Project lately, so maybe thats another avenue.

Issues

Like Matt Smith, I am a proponent of BHoD gaming. Savage Worlds takes that away from Deadlands. The experience point system is lame. Bennies are not as well done as chips. Initiative is purely random and has only one edge to help it, which then makes you twice as good as everyone else.
