Body Type Modifier (BTM) is a derived statistic based on the BODY stat.

Most frequently, BTM is used to mitigate damage; every time a target is hit, the BTM is subtracted from the damage before it is applied to the wound track. In this way, bigger, tougher characters can take more punishment, especially if it comes in the form of a bunch of small wounds. BTM will do little, however, to protect from a single massive attack. A shotgun blast will mess you up no matter how strong you are, but Rampage Jackson will live through a fist fight that would reduce an average Joe to a bloody pulp. BTM will not reduce damage below 1. If anything penetrates armor, the target takes at least one point on the wound track.

BTM is also applied as bonus damage to hand-to-hand or melee attacks.

BTM is used as a bonus to attack/defense rolls in close combat. If the combatants are evenly matched, this will wash out, but if one is stronger, they will have a slight edge.
