Several outbreaks of religiously motivated rioting have broken out on Calchas in the Castor system. Given the poor state of the police presence there, the rioting has quickly spread, although the presence of large numbers of mercenaries in the vicinity of Glaucus makes it unlikely that the rioting will continue unabated much longer. These riots are reminiscent of the "pious crusade" movement on Calchas 50 years ago that led to widespread destruction throughout Castor and even on some frontier worlds in Pollux.

Cicero, his press secretary, is quoted as saying "given the current military buildup and escalation pursued as policies by the Aeneans, King Volonus at this time feels it prudent to express his displeasure in the strongest terms possible. This action in no way prevents further diplomacy between our nations, as demonstrated by our willingness to permit ambassadors to remain, yet it is the royal wish that those with potential influence be denied the comfort of Lycurgan patronage so that they might be motivated to enact change."
