Flight Control Officer Lt. Maniersi's Personal Log: Stardate 40323.2

Lt. Maniersi: Personal Log ..... Joran Maniersi ..... Star Trek: The Triangle Missions

I attended the orders ceremony & banquet this evening at Starbase 27. I've been here for several days while waiting for assignment to the USS Niven, a Nebula-class frigate assigned to the Triangle Fleet. It seems there's been some recent shake-up in the crew. Apparently the Niven's First and Tactical Officers were retired from Starfleet under less than ideal circumstances. I don't know the specifics, but the political situation is apparently dicier than is being advertised. I'm not worried, though. My psychic powers and natural abilities should easily discover the truth of the matter. Current orders were to deliver supplies to a research outpost, Deep Space Research facility 3, and deliver President Baker, (a local political leader), and his retinue to their homeworld of Baker's World.

The banquet was rather low-key, despite the surprise announcement of a new treaty with the Cardassian Empire that cedes Bajor and many Federation colonies to them in a new Demilitarized Zone. I didn't sense any great outbursts of emotion, so it doesn't appear there will be any resignations to join this 'Maquis' group that seems to be forming in response. The Chief of Engineering on the Niven is a Bajoran, Lt. Cmdr. Hazor Dyan. He didn't seem to have any issues with anything being announced, but circulated quite a bit among the local politicians and senior NCOs. I also met my new superior and CO, Lt. Sandra Kingman and Captain Layla Koyanagi, respectively. Neither had particular words for me and we didn't talk at any length. I didn't sense any strong feelings toward me, positive or negative. Given the volatility of recent events, I'd expected a more courteous welcome. A Betazoid with such strong psychic powers as myself is obviously an enormous advantage to the Captain and crew. I'm sure they'll make up for their oversight shortly. We also received a new Tactical Officer, Lt. Cmdr. Akoval th'Idrani lorTheel'zhiin, an Andorian Marine (you can tell by the name, hah!).
