Ivan Gloval hails from a Mega Corp Planet. Due to his excellent ability to pilot and natural knack for tactics, he quickly rose in rank and was assigned to pilot The "Sleipnir". However, after five years of service he was fired for no reason. This was a huge blow to his family's honor and he wandered around various planets. Finally he met up with a Ules. The two got along well and Gloval worked at freeing him, as Ules was a slave. However, Ules' master showed up and suddenly demanded he had been cheated out of Ules. A fight ensued and Ules killed his former master. When he took the stand at the trial he denied that Gloval had anything to do with it. Gloval, who had always had strong ties to his crew mates when he flew ships, saw this as an honorable trait and so decided to wait on Patroclus while Ules served his time.

Gloval is clearly an older character, he likes fine pipes and has a love for fine wines as well. He rarely gets angry even though he receives sneers from people who recognize him as the fire pilot of The "Sleipnir". Even though it was some 5 years ago or so when he was fired. He has not talked to his parents since then.
