Lt. Maniersi: Flight Officer's Log ..... Joran Maniersi ..... Star Trek: The Triangle Missions

I've traveled back to the USS Niven to help resolve our inadvertant first contact. I've made contact with disperate departments on the ship and am coordinating an action with Captain Ian Frazier. I've used my telepathic abilities to establish that none of the Marines in question are compromised, and we're now set to clear out Engineering and the Computer Core. Hopefully any unnecessary injuries can be avoided, as these are the Niven's crew we'll be harming, and it's not entirely clear what the intentions of this strange race is.

Supplemental: I managed to make mental contact with one of the beings, which claims to be from a race called Minnerites. Apparently they came aboard via the weak-gravity interferon emitter, which is their current home, although they're looking to relocate. I've relayed their intentions to Captain Koyanagi and Lt. Silon has volunteered to house one of the Minnerites and act as a medium for communication.

Continuing Log: I wonder if Captain Koyanagi has any Betazoids in her family history? She's managed to convince the Minnerites of our good intentions and they have agreed to release their hold over any crewmembers in return for resettling their population. With all the Niven's systems back to normal operations, we've advanced to Pluuh 2, although not without the appearance of 2 additional Cardassian cruisers threatening to cross the border. We've worked out a schedule for the shuttling of colonists and defenses, which is going to keep me very busy. Commander Devin West has taken an Away Team down to follow up on the odd tachyon transmission I detected. I'll be interested to hear what he discovers.

Supplemental: It's certainly been an interesting several days. Turns out the whole thing was a Cardassian plot, and a not entirely unclever one. Starfleet really needs to devote more resources to countering such plots. The Charter doesn't have much weight if its citizens can't count on the protection necessary to enjoy the rights and priveleges so granted. I'll have to write back to Betazed and encourage additional consideration being given to service in the Federation or Starfleet. On a more enjoyable note, we've resettled the Minnerite population on a suitable rogue asteroid that shouldn't see any visitors. I wish them the best and hope we're able to engage in a fruitful exchange of knowledge and culture.
