Lt. Maniersi: Flight Officer's Log ..... Joran Maniersi ..... Star Trek: The Triangle Missions

While on patrol I detected extreme chronoton emissions that turned out to be a Vortai-class Romulan ship. The Away Team that beamed over discovered discovered 4 Centaurans along with extremely powerful subspace distortions. During our Senior Staff meeting, Captain Koyanagi introduced us to an agent of the future Bureau of Temporal Investigations who had appeared aboard. He explained that the Romulans were attempting to retrieve the Gorzem Flu from history for use as a biological agent. I hadn't realized time travel was possible. Certainly a very disturbing concept, especially if governments are trying to weaponize it. We were provided some temporal stabilizers to keep our memories from being altered by the changes to the timeline, which was a good thing as attempts to repair the changes aren't guaranteed to reset things back to what they were. The only Centauran we could revive explained that she'd been kidnapped by a doctor whose cruelty rivaled that of Earth's old Nazis while attempting to discover the fate of her sister. The doctor she was talking about was recorded in our original histories as a humanitarian genius who had discovered the cure for the Gorzem Flu. After much discussion, the Temporal Agent known as Shennong dropped a temporal anchor and sent Captain Koyanagi through the subspace rift to attempt to prevent the changes made. Apparently she was sufficiently successful, although Shennong said there would be discrepancies. In a very difficult decision, we were unable to keep the surviving Centaurans from being returned to their original fates, as that would have changed the Shennong's own future. There is no excuse for the actions taken by the doctor. Sacrifice of sentient life is no more moral when done for science than for ancient religious ceremonies.
