Lucina Laskaris is a former criminal profiler with a focus in serial killers. She was part of a multi-departmental Task Force headquartered in Emerald City with the admirable goal of eliminating organized crime but grew disillusioned. The Task Force was pressured to produce results and this devolved the original noble goal into a corrupt, deal-making, mockery of justice. Some arrests were made and investigations deterred crime but the kingpins still eluded justice due to political connections and well-placed bribes. Disgusted with this cowardice, as she saw it, Lucina resigned and took her twin sister, Thera (who was a data analyst in the same Task Force) with her. Together the Laskaris sisters put together a bold plan to restore justice to Emerald City.

Lucina was already in reasonable shape from dance and gymnastics but she focused greatly on increasing her abilities while her sister primarily designed equipment to aid crime-fighting. Thera also hacked a back door into the Task Force's system allowing access to their files - specifically the files of obviously guilty people who managed to game the system through various techniques and go free. Lucina tracked several of these perps down and killed them which earned her a fearsome reputation as a violent murderer amongst both the underworld and law enforcement. Undeterred, the war continues.

Striga Diary, Late August 2012
Ran across some gang bangers during patrol and found, much to my naive surprise, that I was not the only crime-fighter in the city. These others have courage but seem to lack resolve; I hope they can harden themselves to the demands of the street and not become a liability. The problem with civil society is that we tolerate crime in the misguided belief that the criminal mind can be distorted towards "normality." Infection spreads and the sickness must be removed from the host; one does not cure illness through empathy and understanding, illness is cured by the blade.

The corruption continues to run deep. Detective Harmon, whom I already (rightfully) suspected of being crooked, is also apparently in league with Councilman Roggerio who are both betoken to some outside figure whom I do not know. I followed Harmon to the local policeman's ball and followed his rendezvous with Roggerio and somebody else whom I had never seen prior. This other person wore a suit but was also garbed in a peculiar mask decorated with a spade (as from a playing card). As I was closing in, the other crime-fighters made a great ruckus and prevented my questioning of Detective Harmon but I was able to corner Roggerio who was forthcoming with information but our conversation was interrupted by police. I did purloin an envelope that masked man gave to Roggerio (who, unsurprisingly, has a price and can be bought cheaply judging by the money within the envelope) but this only raised more questions.

It seems I must make contact with the other crime-fighters for practical reasons. Their resources will aid me and I can watch them as well.
