The Premise

Once the current situations are resolved, the players find evidence of something enticing far outside the valley. This information includes a map and some directions, as well as descriptions which interest the characters.

The Characters

Each player could use whichever of their characters they choose. It would then be possible to have a combination group consisting of primaries as well as alts. Sending some of the team characters away may take some doing, but I bet if Ben and I work on it we could explain it, if the players are interested. Anyone who wishes may make a new character that lives in the area where the players find themselves.

The Setup

The journey outside the valley will be long and arduous, in fact much more difficult than the players themselves were prepared for. During the trip each character will lose a high percentage of their equipment and/or supplies (at their own choice). I am considering either a raw number of pieces retained, or a certain mass of equipment. This is negotiable.

I have an idea I find interesting as to how we resolve this cataclysm. What I propose is we would create a wiki page where the players collectively write the story of their journey. They can describe the encounters, weather patterns, and exactly how each item which was lost was lost. It will be purely a storytelling exercise. I will provide a few crucial details, the rest would be up to you.

Setting Changes

I have made some changes to how armor and equipment work. It makes some things less reliable, but also will add to drama. Everything will be laid out clearly to everyone before we begin, but during the game itself there will be mystery.

Daily survival will be a strong theme in the game, nothing will be a given or easy. Commerce and trading will be a possible road to survival. Local cities will have differing economies which value items differently. Scrounging will be greatly expanded and much more detailed. Hunting may get a little easier, but I am not sure.
