For instance, we can all assume Nate isnt coming for some lame reason and that Ed is sick of pizza and is bringing teriyaki or some other crap. They can post something here if that happens to be untrue.

Dark Knight I've just purchased tickets for myself and kim for SATURDAY, JULY 19th at 9 PM at the seattle IMAX. Anyone else who wants to come see THE superhero movie with us on THE big screen, feel free.

KIM: Count Mark and April in! I'll cover their tix.

JASON: I got tickets for the midnight opening at the Cinerama. I am also considering hitting the IMAX with you guys.

JULY 4th

--Dieter the Bold 13:02, 16 June 2008 (MST) Gentlemen, and lady: It's finally dawned on me that in 3 weeks it will be the 4th of July. On a Friday, no less. I think, given the date, we should be a little more proactive in determining our whereabouts. I already see Ed has declared himself busy. Is anyone else planning on crazy BBQs, late night fireworks, etc., etc.? If so, speak soon, because for those who plan on attending gaming, I'd like to put out the idea of doing a Patriot Themed One-shot or series of One-shots. Are we your average Joes caught up in a time-warp, leading us to fight in our countries greatest battles? Are the Brood invading and we must use our amazing super powers to defend Earth? Or have we accepted a race for charity with people making donations to the hero that can traverse the world the fastest (but some of our arch-nemesis have other plans?)? Regardless, as the 4th is a federally recognized holiday, and we therefore get the opportunity to take off work, I vote we have a gaming day + BBQ, and then leave the night open for more gaming or for fireworks or whatever. I look forward to your responses.

KIM: I too vote for festivities, and will bake cherry pies or other such traditional yums on request (and if you say please). BBQ is good, if heroes, count me as present, if one-shots are to be had instead, I might have a couple friends over for boardgames in the other half of the communal area. Also, isn't the other side of midnight Matt's bday?

--Dieter the Bold 20:01, 19 June 2008 (MST) I hearby make the official motion to cancel gaming on July the 4th. I introduce a second motion that we hold a BBQ, movie, boardgaming day in its place. Movies to be of the classic patriotic kind. Patton, comes to mind.

JASON: If this materializes I would like to say I am 66% on attending, as well as bringing along a sidekick, some board games and possibly even some patriotic movies.

GABE: Dude, the Patriot! Nothing is better then spearing a British officer with the American flag! What is your sidekick's power or powers?

JASON: She has the power to speak Japanese and use Photoshop CS on the mac. Dont be a hater, thems some serious powers yo.

GABE: Man..., I can barely speak English and have the ability to burp after eatting even the most least gasiest of foods. My powers blow.

KIM: I'm a fan of the boardgame-bbq... may be inviting some vanilla friends to play teh scrabblez wit me, unless ya'll are down with the Kung-fu Munchkin.

JASON: Teh Scrabblez? D00d, wiik. At the very least we should play Cranium. Ill bring it. Thats a rad party game.

KIM: ooooooooooooooooooooh, CRANIUM. There's gotta be a way to make it a drinking game, no?

GABE: Man, Matt, The Authority is an awesome comic. Are these two books all there is?

--Matts 10:22, 23 June 2008 (MST)There's a ton of offshoots, like Jenny Sparks Secret History of the Authority, and I'm pretty sure there's tons of shit with Jack Hawksmoor and the Midnighter and the old Stormwatch gang, but I'm not sure how much of it is written by Warren Ellis, who did those first two books.

JASON: Let it hitherto be known that Rumi has purchased Rock Band for the wii, and if there is interest we will bring it on the 4th. What say you, gents? Also, we plan on making some shish kabobs as well.

Hey Dieter, go check out Eve Online. They are having a 14 day free trail. Its actually pretty fun, I find it relaxing just flying around and mining shit. Or anyone else who is intersted, which I'm guessing ain't much!

BEN: A complication has arisen for the 4th. I have to have all the shit for my deck delivered on the 5th (assuming home despot works that day) so that the tile guys can start on the 7th. That means that I have to have the leveling compound down by the 5th, so I can cart all the crap up from the curb (where they will deliver something like 2.5 tons of stone plus another 1000 pounds of other shit) and put it on the deck. Since I'm gone this weekend, it is fairly likely that I will be doing a lot of said leveling on Friday the 4th. Obviously, this doesn't interfere with boardgaming etc, but it will put the kai bosh on grilling on the deck itself (depending on how much of it I need to do that day, I suppose). More as the situation develops.

JASON: I am willing to help you do some work on the 4th. I could use some physical labor. One thing is, if the deck will be unavailable, maybe we can use mine instead, if others dont object? Also, Gabe, Im terrible at Rock Band too. Even songs I can actually play on the real instruments somehow escape me so far...hehe

--Dieter the Bold 10:08, 25 June 2008 (MST) I'd vote moving it to Jason's. And the Wii actually has Rock Band? With all 4 instruments? I'll do anything but singing. It's hella fun.

JASON: It just came out like 3 days ago or something. We have only 3 instruments, but if the Guitar Hero guitars are compatible, it might be easy to have a 4th.

RUMI: Wiik. Apparently the Guitar Hero controllers are NOT compatible with Rock Band. :( Also, in regards to moving the festivities, we have a (semi) awesome view of the Space Needle! It's probably pretty cool for fireworks! :)

--Dieter the Bold 14:04, 26 June 2008 (MST) Opportunity for free beer and pizza in return for 1 to 2 hours of heavy lifting on Saturday, July 5th. A friend at work needs some furniture moved. She estimates no more than 2 hours and anytime before 5pm is fine. She'll be happy to then spring for pizza and a pitcher of beer afterwards.

--Edmiao 11:25, 1 July 2008 (MST) damn. so want to try out my red green speed deck against something other than ben's eternal kinship decks. but i think can't do it either day. it worked pretty well by the end of the last tune up session, but that was only after i added 4 lightning bolts to the deck. seems like it's hard to go wrong with 4 of arguably the best card in the game.

JASON: Lightning Bolt isnt one of the power 9, but it is the foundation of what I believe is the best possible magic deck. Going by standard rules 15 mountains and 25 lightning bolts is hard to beat. I might tweak a couple of cards, but not many. Well, in a perfect world it would be like 10 Mox Sapphires and 5 Black Lotuses instead of the mountains.

GABE: Moxes are over-rated! And I only say that because if everyone had them, people would just make decks to counter it. Well... maybe not, but who cares, nobody owns those anyway. Thats cool if you can't, Thursday would work better if anyone is intersted. Wait, how can you have 25 lightning bolts?

JASON: In standard magic rules the only deck construction rule is that your deck must have 40 cards or more. I used to have 2 moxes and they made a difference. Consider this deck with all of its land coming in the form of artifacts and all of the damage in the form of direct damage. It takes 7 lightning bolts to win, without moxes that can come as early as turn 4, with the moxes, turn 3. This deck doesnt have those crazy first turn wins, but it can win by turn 4 about 90% of the time, plus counter creatures and such pretty efficiently. It has absolutely no defense against anything else.

BEN: I used to play a deck that had all the dual lands, all the moxes, and a lotus. being able to drop 5 mana on turn 1 makes a big difference, especially since with that kind of deck every deck is 5 color. there's a turn 1 win combo that looks like this: 1 lotus, 1 channeling, 1 mountain, 1 fireball.

JASON: That combo is the reason Channeling is restricted. There are plenty of turn one win combos, I just wanted to have a deck that wasnt dependent on a combo that happens 30% of the time, but had a high chance of winning by turn 4 pretty much every game. Take that lightning bolt deck and throw in Ancestral Recall, Time Walk and some other direct damage or Haste creatures, and there is a very tough deck.

GABE: Talk talk talk, any of you ladies actually wanna play? MWUHAHAHA! Plus we all know it isn't Power 9, it is power 1, Sky Swallower.

GABE: Hey-o Matt... I am actually going to try a Sky Swallower deck, I don't think it will work but it will be fun. So nobody else plan to use those gems.

--Edmiao 17:54, 1 July 2008 (MST) here's a card that is 100% required for a sky swallower deck. in fact, i think you need 4 of them. we only have one. 3UU Force of Will: counter target spell; if you discard a card and pay 1 life you can play this without paying the casting cost. this can protect your sky swallower after you give up all your lands.

JASON: I have a couple of those too. Its a rad card. I need some black or red cards that let you do something cool in exchange for discarding cards. Any suggestions?

--Edmiao 18:55, 1 July 2008 (MST) there was a series of them in some expansion that i was buying back in the day. i have one force of will and one that is black, forget the name it has a cat in the picture, 3BB : place two -2/-1 counters on up to two target creatures. discard a black card and lose 1 life to not pay the casting cost. oh and a white one, 4W scars of the veteran prevent the next 4 damage to target creature and for each damage prevented put a +0/+1 counter on that creature, same thing about dicard a card and pay a life to not pay the casting cost. i don't have the red or green ones that i recall.

--Edmiao 09:12, 2 July 2008 (MST) another for sky swallower; we have an artifact that only lets each player untap two permanents. good way to slow the enemy down, and you only have the sky swallower any way. plus the artifact keeps working after you give it to the opponent

BEN: we battled the juice for a bank and the juice's reputation, then we battled silver skinned dudes for hostages at the museum of natural history, then we battled a giant demon for hot girls about to be sacrificed to an artifact, then we battled Cortez, who possessed Brim and sent ancient Aztec spirits to kick our asses and flew off in a giant steampunk ship in Brim's body. You know, the usual.
