Revision as of 12:03, 15 September 2008

This is intended for those schmoes who play in the current 7th Sea game on Saturday, as well as anyone else who might be interested in a weekly game from now on (Dieter?). The games which follow are possible candidates to rotate with 7th Sea, not replace it.

Why?

This page exists because I am not certain what the best way to move forward is. I have a couple of ideas, but none of them stand out so starkly that they preclude all others. Also, after how poorly we adjusted to 7th Sea when it began, I think we need to test out some ideas before we commit to something. Finally, you all probably know how easily I get enamored with shiny objects. This could help reduce that.

What?

When we reach Ussura it would be a perfect time to switch games for a while. I want to use this first rotation to determine which game we will go forward with.

A list will follow with all of the ideas I have been kicking around, including multiple iterations of the same idea utilizing differing systems. Each of you should rank your top 4, and once everyone has voted, we will tally the results and the 4 highest scoring games will get tried. For simplicities sake, rank them from low to high, but 4 points will be assigned for a 1, 3 for a 2 etc.

Please also notate any reservations or comments here or on the discussion page. Feel free to make as many comments as necessary and call me names if you so choose.

For instances where a single game is indicated multiple times, if we choose to playtest different systems the actual game will be the same either way, but each test drive will be completely different plotwise and unrelated to the actual game. The only exception is Exemplars, if we choose to playtest this over multiple systems they will both be two preludes which will set the scene for the actual game.

RECAP: Once we wrap up this plot thread in 7th Sea we will run one-shots on 4 consecutive weeks. Vote here for which ones you would like to try. We will choose the next permanent game from these 4 once they are all completed.

Questions

Which?

Here are the candidates:

The Tiger Eye Cameo of Ibn-al Azrad using Dragonquest
The Tiger Eye Cameo of Ibn-al Azrad using Hero
The Tiger Eye Cameo of Ibn-al Azrad using Warhammer v1
The Tiger Eye Cameo of Ibn-al Azrad using Warhammer v2
The Tiger Eye Cameo of Ibn-al Azrad using my homebrew Deadlands rip-off system
Indiana Jones in Space using Hero
Space Opera using Hero
Deadlands I dont know exactly what could be done with this, but it should be in the running
Mechwarrior using Hero
Exemplars using Hero
Exemplars using Aberrant
Exemplars using my homebrew Deadlands ripoff system

Please note, the points have no bearing on which order the games will be played.

Questions

Lets put questions and answers here, and keep requests and discussion on the discussion page.

JASON: Would players prefer to test out 4 different settings or 2 settings on 2 systems each? Another possibility that might work is testing 4 systems with at least 2 disparate systems in the tests, then picking a system on the winning setting.

Answers

Here is the action plan. Since we need to test as many systems as possible, we might as well do the same with settings. This way we can have a good basis. The 4 games will be as follows:

Indiana Jones in Space using Hero
Tiger Eye using Dragonquest
Mechwarrior using Hero
Exemplars using Aberrant

Each page will be updated with info on the one shot itself. If we determine to play Tiger Eye but choose not to use Dragonquest, we may throw on one extra one-shot in Warhammer so we can choose whether that is better than Hero. If we choose Exemplars but dont like Aberrant, Hero is something we will have all tested and can fall back on.
