Sssslith

Sssslith is a Saurian, and a sub-race of the Hissss ist. Built smaller and more lithe than his brawnier cousins, Sssslith came to the crew by way of the Mercantile League. His family had smuggled themselves off of Draco IX and into the wilds of Janus V several generations earlier to escape an oppressive caste system. They managed to avoid contact with the natives for a while, but were eventually discovered. Luckily, they were treated well, and soon moved into the League proper on Janus' patron world, Hadrian IV. There the family managed a lower-middle-class living, with Sssslith being the first to complete a course in higher education, becoming a starship pilot. Sssslith's family was well aware of the population pressures that the Hisss ist often faced, and did their best to limit their own breeding. 'Limited' still meant twice Human normal, and there was a great deal of pressure placed on all family members to be productive members of society, to head off any prejudice due to their race and kinship with the Hisss ist. This pressure turned Sssslith into an extremely competitive individual who quickly became enamored with starship pilots and all the adventures he imagined them having.
