Celesta Langley

Celesta Langley was born on January 8, 2350 on Betazed. Though once a happy, gregarious child, due to Celesta's telepathic abilities developing far earlier than normal and thus unable to control it yet, she became ostracized, bullied, and even feared. This destroyed her psyche and lead her life into a downward spiral riddled with mental instability.

After a third hospitalization at the age of 16, she was befriended by one of the doctors at Starfleet Medical. He came in daily and rather than running tests or reading over her chart, he would just pull up a chair and engage in a conversation with her. Though extremely withdrawn at first, she learned to trust him over time and began to open up. She later learned that this doctor was not one of her physicians, nor was he ever on duty when he would come see her. Moved by this profound act of compassion, Celesta decided to dedicate her life to medicine in order to be able to help others.

Celesta was an above average student at Starfleet Medical Academy and graduated in 2376. In an unfortunate series of circumstances, she was stationed on Betazed for her first assignment and then at Starfleet Medical for her second. Feeling a desperate need to escape her past demons, when Operation Lewis and Clark was announced, she immediately requested transfer. It was approved and she was made the chief medical officer on board the USS Intrepid.
