Compilers

A compiler is a macro-scale machine that builds or "compiles" materials on a molecular or atomic level. It functions somewhat like a 3-D printer, but can use just about any compound fed into it to build product. A compiler can be used to create raw materials used in other manufacturing processes (like alien fabric and alloy), or can be used to build items without costly, rare or otherwise unavailable machinery (such as CNC machines, lathes, assembly lines, etc.).

Research into nanofabs greatly increases the versatility and efficiency of a compiler, and will greatly expand the complexity of products available for reproduction.
