Eli Whitney was born different. His mother never could find him where she left him, he was always out in the yard...or somehow across town at grandmother's house. He was a good boy, but never seemed to be able to keep his attention on any one thing for very long. This was not good for his schoolwork, he was constanly behind. Turns out he wasn't just quick, he disappeared from one place and showed up in another. maybe that's why the labor only lasted five minutes and wasn't painful at all. After an incredibly long pause, the doctor had told her that being the fifth child, things just went easier. Seemed too easy to Eli's mother.

With time, Eli learned to use his abilities with incredible control. but he had trouble focusing. Sometimes it seemed like he left a piece of his attention behind. Friends began to ask him if there was something wrong with him, maybe he had attention deficit disorder, they wondered. As the years passed, Eli became more and more scatterbrained. With extreme concentration, he could keep it together though.

As you might expect, the ability to get in and out of places was too much temptation. Eli could have whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted it. And he did. Robbery, free movies, sneaking a peek in the locker room. He lost his conscience. He wasn't normal after all.
