Marcus Meyerbos
Evergreen Initiative ... Dieter the Bold
Born on Whidbey Island to a large family of Dutch emigrants, Marcus grew up in a rural environment and developed a fierce love of the outdoors from a very young age. Avoiding military service after an encountering subtle discrimination and peer pressure early on, Marcus dedicated himself to learning practical skills for living in, and making a living from, the outdoors. Skilled, and certified, in everything from rock climbing, white water rafting, hunting, fishing and SARs (Search And Rescue) to name a few, Marcus has also found medieval reenactment and crafting to be enjoyable hobbies. While he never pursued a degree in higher education, Marcus has taken community college courses on History, Political Science and Psychology, and doesn't suffer from any anti-science biases or luddite beliefs.
Marcus was recruited into the Morrow Project after impressing one of the local industrialists who was part of the project while on a guided wilderness tour down the Skagit River. Nothing out of the ordinary occurred on the trip, but the professionalism and confidence Marcus exuded led to conversation, discreet background checks and then full on participation with the program.
