Roland Alexander
Captain Roland Alexander (Born 2336) is the commanding officer of the USS Intrepid, serving as the Science vessel in Operation Lewis and Clark in Wagon Train to the Stars. His family moved to Terra Nova 50 years after its rediscovery by Captain [1]Archer and the original Enterprise. His family ancestors worked for Servicemaster and was contracted to help clean up the irradiated surface, and Roland was the second generation to be born and live his full life on the surface.
Roland entered Starfleet Academy in 2354 intending on pursuing a career in space science, but found himself more suited for operations and command. His academic career was good, but not particularly noteworthy, while athletically he was captain of the Judo team for two years. His instructors almost universally recognized his organizational and consensus building skills.
After graduation he moved up through the ranks at a moderate pace and attended command school in his early 30s. He was assigned as first officer of the USS Repulse and served two tours there before getting his first command, the USS Nautilus, in 2377. His tenure as both a first officer and Captain have been above average, and he has been recognized for innovative and aggressive use of science vessels.
Personal
In 2382 his wife, Julianna, died from an aggressive alien parasite while at home on Terra Nova. A few months after this traumatic event he requested deep space duty in Operation Lewis and Clark. With no living relatives and a strong service record he was a perfect candidate for a mission of this type.
