Talk:Wahkan
Gabe: Ed, since I'm at work and can't check my email... I was wondering if you could explain to me the insanity in past live background. Also just what is the ward disadvantage?
I noticed your attributes seem to be min/max 'ed in one catagory, as I said in the email I'd drop your stam by at least one and add that point to dex. A dex of one means your very, very clumsy. Also I'd lower the indimitation stat to at least 2. You have one str, almost no fighting ability yet you can indimidate? I'd suggest putting one of those freebie points into langauges. Nobody has these and they are important for an occult character.
Of course if have a good story for why your guy has such a high indimdation I'm glad to listen.
--Edmiao 10:44, 15 January 2008 (MST) for the stamina, i was thinking that since he is not much of a combatant that he would need to be able to take some hits, so i put the stamina to 4. but i can readjust and put dex to 2 and stamina to 3. or all three at 2. i was just worried that with little combat points he might die.
for the intimidate, i was thinking that he would have a high presence (re hero system) and thus put points into intimidate. but if it will never work because it must pair with strength, then i'll move them elsewhere. not sure how the system works. does intimidate always pair with strength? i mean, there are a lot of low strength villains who can be menacing and intimidating by their force of character. Think the Scarecrow. Not a physical menace, but can be scary as hell. My concept was that he could lead by strength of character, and bully by strength of character as well.
the insane past life background is that one of your past lives is insane and at times tries to take over n shit. it's in the player's guide. requires the merit past lives. will work on a backstory for it. it is a counterpoint to the merit Ancestral Ally, which he also has.
Ward: "You are devoted to protecting a "sleeping" human, perhaps a close friend or relative from your pre-supernatural days. These mortals have a knack for unknowingly getting in the middle of whatever mess you're involved with, or may even help create one." I was thinking that he will have a sister who is hominid, likely werewolf bound, but is young, say 10-13 years old. he has an obligation to keep her safe until her change.
I hadn't looked at languages, sounds like a good idea.
Gabe: Hmm okay, I think we need to take a look at the revised copy of the book if possible. There is a background called ancestors where you can channel them to up stats, but there is a chance... that they don't let go of your body. If your crazy one gets a-hold of you... I think that may work.
I'm going to play around with who your ward is, if thats okay. Would you be okay with having 2? (no you don't get double the points) They would be twins, something that almost never has happened.
One thing I also noticed is your manipulation is low, which is fine, because your charasmia is very high. Just means you lead by example, like you said. However it means your bad at lying and scheming, not bad, just letting ya know.
I get the having a high presence thing. I'd drop those bits of the indimidate then and buy some willpower if you haven't and up your langauge stat by at least one or two. We can go through the details laters, as long as we have a general idea of what your guy is like.
--Edmiao 12:36, 15 January 2008 (MST) oh, i didn't know you could buy willpower higher, that sounds important. we should definitely meet to talk character sheet stats, but i think that's not so crucial as me getting a background going, which i will do this week.
The above with channeling ancestors sounds interesting if that is how they sub for the old past lives thing.
feel free to play with the ward(s). My idea was that she was a half sibling homid born, which sort of mirrors his lupus born. One thing i was going to write into the background for pure blooded was that his lineage has 100% werewolf penetrance in offspring, but that they have very few offspring live to conception. lots of still births and spontaneous abortions. when there is a lupus pregnancy, only one cub, the others are all born dead. but any offspring is guaranteed to manifest werewolf. each person in the lineage has 1-2 offspring who survive to conception, so his father would have had Wahkan by lupus and this sister(s) by homid and no others. then i was going to write in some kind of seer prophecy about him that is somewhat ambiguous if it was him or his sister(s) that are referred to. the prophecy is going to be something like.... WW are fading, the wurm grows, we need a time of change and a new leader will arise. one who joins the purity of wolf spirit with the clever mind of homid, a new breed to lead the way into the future.
--Gdaze-- Hmm, lets lower that to around 80%, thats still extremely high, but also with the fact that not all births even reach that state... of uh... birthing.
I'm fine if your family has that prophecy. And lets make your ward twins then... Although I hate having NPCs that need to be tagged along heh heh. And your ward is going to be twins, so plan for a bro and a sis.
--Edmiao 13:33, 15 January 2008 (MST) coo. they don't have to tag along everywere, do they?
--Gdaze-- Well, gotta be 3 points worth of disadvantages. Heh heh.
--Edmiao 23:51, 16 January 2008 (MST) Gabe and others, feel free to edit and embelish Wahkan as you like for story or character interconnections. Gabe, note that in the Lore of Rou "spawn of rou" could be singular or plural, intentionally left ambiguous. I had not named the twins yet, please do if you have good names for them, the might need names. Age of change was derived from book saying change is 10-15 years age, old for wolf, young for human. and wikipedia says wolves in the wild live 8-9 years. i thought that was an intersting dichotomy. Does the 10 year old wolf turn into a 10 year old child? That was how i wrote the background. i want him age 17 or 18 in human years.
--Gdaze-- Yeah, the whole age thing works for me.
