--Gdaze-- Even the preacher on Firefly though had some general skills to help.  I mean lets face it, the only person who didn't pull her weight around there was Rain, who should have been thrown out an airlock.  That said, maybe your guy could even be a jack of all trades or something?  I dunno, he seems awesome though either way.  (Oh and I'm assuming our real world religions previel?)

--Dieter the Bold 16:51, 1 March 2007 (MST) What are people's thoughts on a team-based collaborative approach to ship maintanance? I'm not seeing any serious techies being made, but I think it might be interesting to have several characters have tech skills, but not individually sufficient to provide for the whole ship. In Firefly Wash, Mal, Kaylee and Book all displayed some kind of mechanic abilities at some point. I just think it could provide an interesting role-playing and game dynamic if everyone has to chip in (literally) to keep the ship up, instead of just getting parts and throwing them at the one mechanic.

--Dieter the Bold 16:37, 17 March 2007 (MST) I'm feeling that people aren't to crazy about being bandits or pirates, but what about non-Authority anti-pirates? We could be a military style ship involved in pirate and bandit supression, but in a kind of freelance employ of Frontier communities, taking our pay in captured booty from the pirates themselves and whatever the grateful communities can provide.

--Matts 18:58, 17 March 2007 (MST)My intention wasn't neccesarily that there'd be a whole lot of choice in what a given job was; jobs would be hard to come by, and when something came down the pipe, it or one other job might be your only options. Let me explain:  I'm going to come up with a scenario for each session or few sessions; the scenario might be determined by what the players have done previously; it might be a non-sequitur.  The players could debate on whether or not to take a given job; maybe that's even a big part of the scenario, but ultimately, I don't intend to theme the game as "S&R space", or "Freelance Space Police", or whatnot.  The game should be more about the characters in it than what those characters professionally describe themselves as.
