Revision as of 14:57, 8 July 2007

This page is for discussion of stuff related to the game coming up this week, no matter when that actually is. For instance, we can all assume Nate isnt coming for some lame reason and that Ed is sick of pizza and is bringing teriyaki or some other crap. They can post something here if that happens to be untrue.

Attendance and Food preference

7/6/07 LUCKY GAMING NIGHT

Matt will be absent!

--Edmiao 11:39, 2 July 2007 (MST) only 90% attend.

Gabe: Could be absent as well, unsure as of now.

Present: got a couple of things in store for you losers, though attendance is going down faster than gabe's mom on a drunk truck driver. do we have any confirmed attendances besides me? At 3+ players we'll definitely go Gemini, at 2 I'll run Gemini at player discretion (we'll do a one shot of some sort if people don't want to do Gemini), and at 1 player we'll cancel the night, write everyone who missed's name on pieces of lead, and bury them in the yard with the "inscription " may (insert name of absent player here) get leprosy."

Addendum from Ben to the above: Just to keep the faint of heart (or those of little faith) in line, I think I've been inspired with a good, no, excellent one shot idea in case too many people puss out. I'd still rather continue with the campaign myself, but I think I can offer something interesting even if that falls through. Alternatively, anyone else who wanted to run the one shot (if it comes to that) could as well.

--Dieter the Bold 18:49, 3 July 2007 (MST) I'll definitely be there. I must redeem my shameful absence. And I demand pizza.

Ben here: looks like Jeremy is definitely coming and may be bringing an extra person. So we are definitely on for this Friday.

Settler -n- BBQ

--Edmiao 12:01, 24 June 2007 (MST) I will likely be able to host Settlers or other board game and BBQ on July 7 or 8th (Sat/Sun). Cheryl was excited for it. Interested? We have other board games up to 8 players and if there's more people, couples can share a team so come one come all! No I mean visiting my place not on Yo Momma! jez. Ben, I realized that we may poop out around midnight, so if you wanted to do this at your place for a longer night that's coo. just thought i'd offer our place for varried venue.

Ben here: I'm in: Saturday is better for me, cause sunday the 8th I'm going whitewater rafting at 2:30pm...although I could come after that if Sunday is the better day for others. I'm down with doing it at your place...if people still want to hang out after midnight, we can always shift locations then.

--Edmiao 10:22, 26 June 2007 (MST) Saturday seems better for me too. we'll do saturday, say starting somewheres between 1 and 6 depending on what folks prefer.

let's do one, that way we might be able to get more than one round of board gaming in that night. BTW, I'm gonna try to make it for CoH tonight, unless something goes horribly wrong at lab.

Gabe - Man I thought you meant City of Heroes and I got all excited.... buuu. Anyway I may come to this too... What kinda board games ya gonna play?

--Edmiao 12:02, 26 June 2007 (MST) we can play whatever. you can bring your favorite, or some of our favorites are: Settlers of catan, spacefarers of catan, robo rally, cosmic encounter, age of mythology board game, Illuminati, carcassone....off the top of my head. I also LOVE Titan, but cheryl hates it for understandable reasons.

Oh I love carcassone, thats the one with all the tiles right? My brother always kicks ass at that game though.. I'm not as a big fan of catan but only really have played it once. I've got some neat zombie games.

--Edmiao 09:32, 2 July 2007 (MST) How many folks plan to show for Saturday, 1pm to whenever? show up whenever you feel like. Jason, if you wanted to try out that dune game, we could also do that. sounds like Ben is in and Gabe a maybe. others?

Ben: Im in. I'll play whatever, but my vote is for settlers. The dune game could be a lot of fun if we actually had six people playing it, I think.

--67.183.209.211 21:28, 2 July 2007 (MST)I could come a little later, I already scheduled a couple of hours around 1. Why dont you guys play Settlers right at 1 then we can do something else when that game is done. Also, Ed, can you email me your address so I can find it?

--Ed -- 12008 meridian ave N, seattle, wa 98133. you've been here before, right? the house is not visible from the street, you have to walk down the driveway. There will be room for two cars in the driveway, three if properly planned. if you arrive first, three point turn your car around so it is ready to launch. don't run over the cat. free parking east on 120th one block away by the soccer field. parking across the street is 2h only on saturday until 6pm (though likely not patroled).

--Dieter the Bold 11:48, 4 July 2007 (MST) Dieter the Bold shall attend. Is this also a full-fledged BBQ in addition to sweet, sweet boardgaming? If so, what would you like your guests to contribute?

--ed-- full bbq and board games. i have the following: burgers n fixins, sausage, veggie burgers, watermellon, blue cheese spread and other cheeses, home made rasberry ice cream, some cookies, little beer, lots of fancy smansy sodas. Bring something or nothing, obviously i have a ton of stuff (carried over from party last friday and bbq on the 4th). some bread for the cheeses might be good.

Dune BITCHES!!!!!

So Im almost done reading Dune, and since you jokers are playing in a space game I thought you might be interested in the following activity. I have purchased the David Lynch version of Dune, and the Sci Fi Channel Dune and Children of Dune miniseries'. My plan is to have a megaDune marathon some weekend day. Skippy got a new super huge HD widescreen tv, and it would be perfect for this event. Anyone who wishes to attend is invited. If interested, let me know what day would work best. Also, I got the Dune boardgame (won it, hasnt arrived yet), so I have included quite possibly the bestestest board game review EVAR!!1 [1]

Here is an explaination of the rules that clears up a thing or two and makes a lot more sense. I think we may have only been doing maybe one thing wrong. [2]

Matt's Birthday

I sent out the email about it, but in case you didn't get it, my birthday denial party is happening TONIGHT at the Stumbling Monk (a fine beer bar on Capitol Hill, at Olive and Boylston I believe) from about 9:30 on. Seeing as how it's a weekday, it shouldn't run too late. Feel free to come, or not to come, or to come on Gabe's mom, I dunno what it is you kids like these days.

The Next Step in Exemplars

Shoot the Midget

The Next Step in Gemini

Also See Ship's Log for past conversations.

Aedil This is Aedil calling the crew, I want to confirm your interest in our recent archaeological finds. I am here with Platocrates and he says to expedite the investigation, he would like to use the University facilities. However if he does so, we would waive our rights to financial gain from the items. I propose that Platocrates should turn over the following items to the University and the academic community for publication: the location and description of the site, the fork, the empty bottle, the pile of bones, the whole human skeleton, the item which by scans appears to be a book or stack of paper, the coin. Captain, you seemed somewhat attached to the coin, but it is only a trinket after all. I assume from previous conversations that the crew wishes to retain ownership of the PDA. In such a case, Platocrates will perform what investigations he can within his laboratory but further studies might need to be carried out elsewhere. Gentlemen, I solicit your opinions.

--Ules: We need money, one way or another, if we want to keep the ship running and the potential for further finds alive. That said, I have no particular opinion on what to do with an old fork.

Aedil What of the other items besides the PDA?

--Edmiao 09:33, 29 June 2007 (MST) note to GM. if other players do not express an opinion on the matter before or at game start then please consider it to be settled as described above.

Graz: Sounds good, just don't forget I got the coin.

--Edmiao 13:50, 29 June 2007 (MST) unless you refused to give it back, it is now in the hands of Platocrates. you may request that it not be handed over to the university if you wish.

--Ules Aedil, the expedition to Andromache was under your auspices. The gain from that trip will directly influence my decisions in terms of pursuing further such adventures. So feel free to give all that shit to Platocrates, but unless we see some real gain, the next time you claim riches await us on some hick-infested backwater, we'll rightly be more skeptical.

Aedil Look, we went on this expedition, I am trying to work with you folks, but I am not one who has staked his life on profits in the past. If you think some of these items have monetary value then you should speak up. Frankly I see no reason why an old fork or an old coin or an ancient book would be worth a lot of money. Thus I propose to turn these over for more rapid investigation. Now some of you may know more about what these are worth on the street and have a differnt opinion. Maybe ancient bones go for a lot of money on the black market, I don't know. The only reason why I care is because you, my freinds, deserve some compensation for the expedition. I will remind you that archaeological expeditions are hit and miss. Sometimes you spend a long time digging and find nothing. Sometimes you spend a day digging and find something prescious. Let me remind you that the last site that the gods directed me to yeilded a small stone. I just sold that small stone for 100,000 credits, which will be divided normally amongst the ship and crew as soon as Samuel and I get back. Is that gain enough for you Ules? Was that a useful adventure? I would say yes. Plus we learned that there is a promising site on Cassandra. Now I am here with Platocrates, are there any other items that are of particular interest to any of you, given what you may know about the value of such things?

Gabe- Nope, I never gave it back, unless it was forceable removed from me from the last session I missed but yeah, I never gave the coin back. (IE he is not handing it over)

Aedil Well that is unfortunate, Captain, but it seems <Looks through photographs> that we have detailed photographs of the coin anyway, that will give Platocrates somewhere to start on the coin, although the actual item for analysis would aid in determining how old it is as most people will think it a replica of some sort. Anyway, Platocrates, I almost forgot to give you this folio with complete photographic documentation of the site. Thus, to sum up, the only item the crew wishes to reserve rights to is the PDA, and of course the coin that Captain Gloval has retained. The remaining items can be analyzed by the Archaeology department and University as you see fit. I think they will be of great interest.
